Cannes 2025 is a spectacle as always. Films, obviously, the centre stage, fashion moments -whatever the occasion might be, never ceases to amaze us. Pedro Pascal and chiselled his arms, for instance, was the juiciest of moments on the red carpet.
But the man who stole everyone's attention for not his abs or arms or cool tailored jackets but for the out-of-the-box bottoms pairing is the Swedish actor, Alexander Skarsgard. Before audiences got a glimpse of his film at Cannes, Pillion, he caught people's eyes with a bold declaration of a pinstripe wool suit coat from Magliano with a pair of dark blue sequin pants from the young British designer, Bianca Saunders.

Styled by Harry Lambert (yeah, the same guy who also styles Harry Styles), Skarsgard dazzled in a moment of intended fashion chaos to the Eagles Of The Republic premiere. More than mere shock value, the look fused punk edge with couture precision, dismantling outdated notions of masculine dress codes. Calling for the punk edgy look, Skarsgard walked with an allure about himself.

A day prior, he channelled the same energy, just a little coy, wearing thigh-high leather boots couped with fitted leather trousers and a sharply tailored blazer that allude to his Pillion character, Ray, a commanding figure immersed in the complexities of BDSM culture.

The long boots, typically relegated to fetishistic subcultures, are honestly making rounds on various red carpet. Yeah, a few months back Pedro Pascal wore it to the premiere of the HBO's The Last of Us and so did the fashion-forward rapper, A$AP Rocky, wore it for one of his suave streetwear looks.
Ahem. Back to Skarsgard. While his attendance of the film The Phoenician Scheme premiere, might have been thought as something out of the ordinary, the actor took his Saint Laurent suit and elevated a double-breasted dinner jacket with a pair of thigh-length leather boots that he tucked into simple black trousers, a white Oxford shirt and a black tie. Who else could pull that off, frankly!

Even his casual tight black leather pants and a white t-shirt with a provocative boot-licking illustration teased convention. All that humourous interplay of elegance with subversion, polished and provocative , traditional and transgressive.

We love a man who doesn't shy away from shedding rigidity of menswear and embrace the unapologetic sense of fashion. Skarsgard's bottom carried the heavyweight from high-shine sequins to high-risk leather pants for that right amount of chaos needed at the most prestigious film festival. Those bottoms deserve making headlines in 2025!
