Men, It's Time To Incorporate Florals In Your Wardrobe

Florals for men? Actually groundbreaking

By Aditi Tarafdar | LAST UPDATED: JAN 29, 2026

It's easy to cop out with ethnic wear whenever the question of florals creeps into the menswear discourse. An elaborately designed sherwani, a kurta with an embroidered front, and it seems more than enough.

Except that floral designs in menswear have always stuck to the fringes, for fear of being too... Feminine. This is particularly true of western wear. Even though androgynous silhouettes have made their way into menswear in the form of ruffles and frills, men's fashion still likes to keep a respectful distance from bright colours and flowers. Sure, every few seasons, someone or the other explores the ways to incorporate florals into menswear. But more often than not, the idea of men wearing floral designs gets tied to people who are hardcore fashion enthusiasts.

Now, there is a trick to flowers in menswear that you didn't know you needed: embroidery. Embroidered designs add a certain depth to the outfit, making it easier to incorporate them in your everyday style while also giving you the option to explore with colours and silhouettes for a more structured edge.

The designers and fashion connoisseurs of 2026 have understood it though, and they've cracked the code on how to carry florals, from mayoral oath ceremonies to fashion week front rows.

Play Around With The Tie

Neckties have been having a moment these last few months, and this time, it's all about how much you can experiment with them. Even with a plain tuxedo, you could go all out with the tie like at the runway at AMIRI at Paris Men's Fashion Week, or, if you want to play it like New York’s newly minted mayor Zohran Mamdani, keep it minimalist with little gold floral accents

Desi Maximalism Always Wins

Speaking of Mamdani, Delhi-based designer Kartik Kumra, who made the tie, had floral motifs in practically all of his looks in his latest fashion week show. His brand, Kartik Research, is a Delhi-based luxury streetwear label, and with his latest collection, Kumra proved that Indian designs can never go wrong with floral embroidery, even if it's made for men.

The Floral Shirt…

Florals and shirts often conjure up images of beachwear. Not that we have anything against them), but, as we said before, good embroidery can make all the difference when it comes to florals for mens shirts, like this AMIRI AW ‘26 look. As for the styling, keep the rest minimalistic, and let the shirt do the talk.

…And The Embroidered Suit

Taking floral embroidery one step further, you could experience with floral embroidery on your suits and blazers. If you're feeling safe, keep the embroidery only up till the lapels like at AMIRI. If you want to go all out, try embroidered suits like the one from Bode Ethan Hawke wore to the Critics Choice Awards.

Brooches Count, By The Way

You can always, always count on a brooch to do some sartorial heavy lifting on days when you don't feel like experimenting with your style. They are the kind of accessory you can go all out with, without them being too much. Not convinced? White Lotus actor Patrick Schwarzenegger pulled the biggest floral brooch we have ever laid our eyes on, with a plain black tux at the Golden Globes.

The Floral Pullover

Listen, nothing can ever go wrong with pullovers and sweaters. Even ugly sweaters can look cool on Christmas, a good floral pullover can look front row ready too. Take French actor Mamadou Sidibé for example, who wore a floral black cashmere and dark blue denim jeans by Dior to their Paris Men's Fashion Week show. Bonus points for good styling, what with the scarf and the bag he carried here.

Let The Coat Talk

Dior

Now, if you're completely comfortable with the idea of donning florals without relying on embroidery, congratulations! You are now a certified style connoisseur. Play around with prints and jacquards more often. Go all out with florals and balance with other aspects, like colour and silhouette, like how Saltburn actor Archie Madekwe did with his beige and black wool canvas coat at the Dior front row.
