A man’s hair is his crown jewel.
Holding pride of place atop his head. Like a crown. But heavy is the head that wears it, or so says the adage, so he spends most of his life trying to not lose it. And if he’s a man in showbiz, the arclights don’t exactly make it any easier either. Those glaring flashbulbs aren’t forgiving in any conceivable way.
But some men just know their hair, and how to care. You’d never see them with a hair out of place. Like Rohit Saraf. The current heartthrob of both young and old. The boy next door who’s now muscled his game. He’s still got that innocent smile though, and that great head of hair. Probably what made Kama Ayurveda sign him up as the face of Bringaras, the brand’s reimagined Ayurvedic haircare line.

Perfect time to chat with the actor on all things hair and its care, and that’s what we did. Edited excerpts:
What’s your haircare routine? How much time do you spend taking care of your hair every day?
I like to keep my haircare routine super simple and effective. Let’s be real, none of us has hours to spend on it every day. I usually oil my hair with the Bringaras Scalp & Hair Oil once a week; it’s like a reset button for my scalp. On regular days, it’s just shampoo and sometimes I use the Bringaras Scalp Scrub instead to remove product build up and to give my scalp that long-lasting detox. If I’m heading out for a shoot, I’ll use the Bringaras Smoothing Hair Serum to keep the frizz in check and to give my hair that instant shine. All in all, I don’t spend too much time on it, but the right products make it feel like I’ve put in way more effort than I actually have.

All men tend to be quite finicky about their hair—what’s your relationship with yours?
I think my mood and my hair are totally connected. If I’m having a bad hair day, it throws me off a little. When it’s looking good, I feel way more confident and ready to take on the day. I wouldn’t call myself super picky, but I definitely care about keeping it healthy and stronger from within because it shows. It’s not about spending hours fussing over your hair, it’s about having products that work, keep it strong and manageable, and make you feel good without overthinking it.
As a young man in showbiz, have you developed any insecurities about your hair that you’re learning to cope with?
Being in showbiz, of course you become extra aware of how your skin and hair look because you’re constantly judged for it. There have been times I’ve worried about frizz, dryness or just not having a “good hair day” when I really needed one. But I’ve learnt not to obsess over it. What helps is focusing on keeping my hair healthy instead of chasing perfection.

Who are some of the men you think have great hair?
I think there are a few guys who absolutely nail their hair game, someone like Shah Rukh Khan sir, who always manages that effortless, healthy look, or Ranveer Singh, who isn’t afraid to experiment but somehow makes it work every time. I also really admire how actors like Chris Hemsworth keep their hair looking strong and natural, even with all the styling for roles.
Any haircare rituals you’ve been following for years that you’d like to share?
My go-to hair ritual has always been keeping it simple but consistent—focusing on the scalp and overall hair health.
Is there a hair experiment you've done in the past that went horribly wrong?
Oh yeah, I’ve definitely had my fair share of hair experiments that didn’t go as planned, like that phase where I tried all kinds of gels, waxes, and styling products to see which look would stick. My hair ended up looking super stiff and not at all how I imagined.

Bringaras is designed to regenerate scalp hair from the root to its tip. How has using this range changed your hair for the better?
I’ve noticed my hair feels a lot more resilient, strong and effortlessly good, which makes me feel more confident. Using the Bringaras range has changed my hair game because it’s not just surface-level; it actually works from the root to the tip. The Scalp & Hair Oil with Bhringaraj and Soy Protein has made my hair stronger and healthier, while the Scalp Scrub keeps it super clean and free of build up, which I didn’t even realise made such a difference until I tried it. And the Smoothing Serum is my go-to product; it tames frizz, adds shine and protects my hair from all the heat styling it goes through on shoots.

What’s your take on Ayurveda and how it’s found a great amount of acceptance in modern times, especially by young men?
I think what’s really cool about Ayurveda today is how it’s gone from being seen as something old-school to being a perfect blend of traditional wisdom and modern science. For young men, especially, it’s less about following a trend and more about finding routines that actually work without being complicated.
Most people have a tendency to ignore their hair until they see an obvious issue with it. What would be your advice to men looking to start with haircare?
Don’t wait! Just start small and consistent. You don’t need a 10-step routine, but even basics like oiling with something that actually works for your roots, keeping your scalp clean and protecting your hair from heat styling damage can make a huge difference. Think of it less as “self-care” and more as giving your hair a headstart before issues even show up.
