Expert-Approved Tips For A Natural, Healthy Glow
Get your glow on for summer!
Looking to radiate a sun-kissed glow, hide dark circles and/or acne marks and come across as absolutely au naturel, even as the weather is nothing but impossibly hot and humid?
Real dudes wear flawless makeup!
According to a New York Times story, "Since he (President Emmanuel Macron) became France’s youngest modern president in May, his office has spent 26,000 euros, or $31,000, for a makeup artist to be at the ready for his public appearances." While in Hollywood, Nicolas Cage is rumoured to have microbladed eyebrows. Johnny Depp's makeup transformation over the years has been nothing short of legendary. Jared Leto too knows the power of dramatic eyes on the red carpet.
It's all about making the best of what’s already there and concealing minor flaws. Remember, less is always more.
A great healthy skin always complements good makeup products. Hence the first step is cleansing followed by a thorough exfoliation to get rid of any dead skin that can make makeup appear patchy. A facial gel helps smooth the skin. Then comes the moisturiser which should be massaged well into the skin. Pick the one which gives an incredibly impeccable base and makes the skin look dewy fresh. Otherwise, use a primer, which aids even out the texture of the skin and helps the makeup stay on for a longer duration.
If you have an uneven skin tone, then a foundation can help. Start with applying the foundation under the eyes, in the corners of the nose, or anywhere else one thinks could do with a bit of coverage. A word of caution: If you sport a stubble or a beard then avoid getting the product into the facial hair. We'd recommend wiping any excess off the hair with a tissue. Use a natural-looking foundation like Chanel's Les Beiges embodying a fine, silky texture that glides over skin and forms a layer that is both invisible to the eye and imperceptible to touch, like a second skin. With its adjustable coverage and longwear formula, skin glows for 12 hours.
Otherwise, opt for a tinted moisturiser for a sheer coverage, with a natural finish. Moreover, blend the foundation with the moisturiser to achieve the same effect. If you have a zit or had a sleepless night then you're in desperate need of a good concealer. Perhaps try M.A.C Studio Radiance concealer which provides 24-hour medium buildable coverage and lends a natural finish. Moreover, it's apt for covering redness and dark circles.
A finishing powder can work wonders for mattifying your skin and setting your makeup so that it lasts longer. Try M.A.C Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation featuring an immaculate matte finish, long-lasting oil control and customisable coverage that evens out all skin tones.
If you suffer from an oily skin then we'd recommend having a translucent blotting powder handy. Focus areas should be your T-zone, in and around the corners of the nose or the edges of the mouth and chin. A pro tip: It's always good to apply the powder last and with a powder brush. Itching to feel a tad sun kissed? Invest in a subtle bronzer to infuse a soft tan. However, don't end up applying it all over the face. Maybe the brow, the bridge of the nose and the top of the cheekbones.
Add a bit of definition to the eyelashes with Chanel Noir Allure Mascara enriched with provitamin B5, the formula helps fortify and protect the lashes. To apply, sweep onto the lashes from root to tip using a slight zigzag motion. Each stroke of the brush immediately intensifies the makeup look.

1. The skin prep is key. Keep yourself hydrated as moisturizing is crucial
2. To combat pores, apply a primer. A sunscreen/tinted sunscreen protects your face from the sun
3. Apply a light foundation like Chanel's Les Beiges which is very natural
4. A spot concealer offers light coverage. Hence apply it on the acne spots
5. Brush off your brows and apply a light mascara on the eye lashes for a natural effect
6. Exfoliate your lips using a balm. Perhaps a tinted lip balm for dark lips
7. Finish off with a mattifying or a hydrating spray.

1. Cleanse the face properly
2. Use a good moisturiser or a hydrating balm so that the makeup doesn't run
3. If you're above 30 then eye cream is essential. Let that sit for five to seven minutes so that it absorbs into the skin
4. Use a mattifying primer for a poreless feel
5. Apply a colour corrector if one's sure about using it. Blend it out to tackle pigmentation
6. Use a concealer and massage it into skin wherever needed. Let that settle
7. Use a setting spray
8. After it's dried out, use a compact close to your skin colour
9. Finish off with a tinted lip balm in a natural tone
10. Wash it off with a face wash and moisturise before going to bed
