If you've been dying to watch a crime thriller that will chill your bone, you're in for a treat with the upcoming film The Whisper Man that's bringing the legendary actor Robert De Niro back to our small screens. Previously, the Oscar-winning actor was seen in the 2019 Netflix film The Irishman and the 2024 Netflix political thriller series Zero Day.

An adaptation of the best-selling novel by Alex North, The Whisper Man, follows an investigation into a serial killer thought to have been imprisoned years ago. But everyone is in for a shocker when children start disappearing and a particular playground rhyme comes back to life. It's now on the retired detective who first arrested the so-called Whisper Man is called back into action to help solve the mystery.

The adaptation of Alex North's novel, The Whisper Man: The Chilling Must-read Richard & Judy Thriller Pick, first published in 2019 explores the frightening idea around a stranger reaching out to your child or talking secretly to them before the child suddenly disappears.

The only way to know anything about the disappearance is through the playground rhyme, 'If you leave a door half open, soon you'll hear the whispers spoken. If your window’s left unlatched, you’ll hear him tapping at the glass. If you’re lonely, sad, and blue, the Whisper Man will come for you.'

So when When the protagonist's 8-year-old son is abducted, a widowed crime writer looks to his estranged father, a retired former police detective, for help, only to discover a connection with the decades-old case of a convicted serial killer known as “The Whisper Man.”

Directed by James Ashcroft, The Whisper Man is a gripping thriller, but at its core it is a poignant and complex story of father and sons.Producers on the project included Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, Michael Disco, and Kassee Whiting. Marcus Viscidi, Tim Connors, and Alex Leb served as exec producers.
