What We Know About The White Lotus Season 4

Everything we've gathered so far about the next chapter of HBO's jet-set satire

By Abhya Adlakha | LAST UPDATED: APR 21, 2025

The White Lotus Season 3, which unfolded in humid, hedonistic Thailand, ended the only way a White Lotus season can: with beauty, bloodshed, and an undercurrent of spiritual malaise.

Somewhere between the moody Thai temples and the rotten blender, we were reminded of Mike White’s gift: taking sun-drenched luxury and slowly peeling back the varnish until it bleeds. We were left gutted. Half in awe, half in despair, and entirely dehydrated from all the gasps and holding our breaths for too long.

But now that the season’s over (Chelsea and Rick, we will never forget you), we’re left with the usual question: what’s next in this gory, disturbing, satirical television show that we just cannot stop watching? And where the hell do we go from here?

Here’s what we know: Season four is happening. HBO gave it the green light well before the third season’s premiere, buoyed by its growing viewership.

With three seasons wrapped — Hawaii, Sicily, Thailand — the White Lotus universe is now synonymous with stunning luxury resorts, repressed upper-class angst, and at least one corpse. But creator Mike White, the twisted genius behind the franchise, is ready to flip the script. Sort of.

Here is everything we know about The White Lotus Season 4.

Location, Location, Speculation

In a MAX aftershow, White dropped a tantalising teaser: “For the fourth season, I want to get a little bit out of the ‘crashing waves against rocks’ vernacular.” So, maybe no more beachfronts. Could we be heading inland? Into a desert? A jungle? A decadent old European city with its own ghosts? All are on the table.

And while that might dash your dreams of another tropical escape, rest assured — the White Lotus aesthetic isn’t going completely inland. HBO’s head of drama Francesca Orsi hinted the next setting will “probably be somewhere in Europe,” and scouting is set to begin mid-2025. Just don’t expect a snow-covered ski chalet: White’s producer David Bernad has made it clear that Mike “does not like the cold.”

That narrows things to the hot and the humid. Maybe Bali. Maybe Marrakech. Maybe back to Asia with Japan, a location White initially considered for season three before opting for Thailand for practical reasons.

In Europe, however, Four Seasons resorts (the de facto White Lotus setting) are abundant across France, Spain, and even Hungary. The French Riviera has been murmured about—sun, scandal, and sophistication seem entirely plausible. There’s also some talk abour the show heading to Egypt.

Of course, White also added: “There’s always room for more murders at the White Lotus hotels.” Some things never change.

Who Might Return?

Casting remains as mysterious as the plots. There’s talk of returning faces—Jon Gries’s Greg, Natasha Rothwell’s Belinda, even Leslie Bibb’s Kate. There’s also talk surrounding an all-star season – bringing back many characters from the previous seasons. The beauty of The White Lotus is that no one is ever quite gone; they’re just one impulsive booking away from resurfacing.

When Can We Expect It?

Filming hasn’t begun yet and we might have to wait till 2026 to see another episode. It’s a long time to wait, yes, but the upside is that Mike White takes his time. We’re talking about a tailored satire stitched in style and sin.

Composer Cristóbal Tapia de Veer won’t return, but White’s singular voice remains intact. Which means Season 4 will almost certainly continue to do what The White Lotus does best: skewer the elite with wit, style, and the occasional stab wound.
