The Wildest Bridgerton Season 4 Part 2 Fan Theories That Have Us Hooked

From masked identities to mystery funerals, the predictions gaining traction

If there’s one thing Bridgerton does well, it’s weaponising anticipation. Half the pleasure isn’t just in the ballroom glances or orchestral pop covers, it’s in the weeks of collective spiralling that follow every cliffhanger. Season 4 Part 1 left us with a masked mystery, a stubborn bachelor and a nerve-wracking offer for the Lady in Silver. Naturally, in the month that has followed, the internet has done what it does best: overanalyse every frame for possible theories.

So before the carriage wheels start turning again, we’re laying out the fan theories that feel less like delusion and more like foreshadowing. Some are romantic. Some are morbid. A few might blow up the ton as we know it. Let’s get into it.

The Queen Will Get Involved In The Hunt For The Lady In Silver

As we've already seen by now, the Queen is hell bent on getting Benedict hitched. Benedict however, is not really looking forward to it. Ultimately, it will lead to him telling her about the Lady in Silver (he can't say anything about Sophie, can he?), and the Queen will put up a reward for her real identity, like she did for Lady Whistledown in season 3.

Lady Penwood will put forward Rosamund as the Lady in Silver

Continuing on the previous theory, Lady Penwood will put forward Rosamund as the elusive woman Benedict is in search of. But this will be after Violet learns about Sophie's real identity. In part 1, Violet has seen Rosamund without her mask, but given how strict the class divide in Bridgerton society is, she will initially not call out the lie when Rosamund is named the Lady In Silver. It won’t be like that for long, though, and Lady Bridgerton, always an upholder of the idea of marrying for love, will stand up to the lie and bless Benedict and Sophie.

The Mondrichs Have A More Important Role In The Story

Till now, side characters in Bridgerton are axed as soon as they are no longer relevant to the show. By that logic, the Mondrichs should have disappeared after season 1. However, Lady Danbury is now trying to push Alice to take up her place as the Queen’s confidante. Either that will happen, or they have a larger role in unveiling Sophie’s identity that will put the family in the spotlight (they were also not a part of nobility initially, remember?).

Penelope, and not Alice, will be the Queen’s confidante

Lady Danbury might be pushing for Alice Mondrich, but Penelope is already one step away from being the Queen’s confidante, now that the Queen already confides in her for fresh gossip before it hits the Whistledown papers. This theory states that somewhere down the line, the queen would finally let go of Lady Danbury and start confiding in Penelope instead.

Eloise and Hyacinth Resolve Their Differences

Eloise and Hyacinth haven’t had the best relationship lately, owing to their different viewpoints about marriage and courtship. Now that Kate and Anthony are returning, maybe Kate will help change Eloise’s mind about marriage, which will lead to the two sisters resolving their differences (maybe in another swing scene, but without Benedict this time?).

Eloise will be set up as the main character for season 5

Eloise and her reluctance towards marriage has been a recurring topic for the last few seasons. This season, she finally decides she is off the shelves. It makes sense for her to have her season now, instead of pushing her to the side for a few more seasons. In the books, Eloise gets on with Lord Phillip, Marina Thompson’s brother from season 1, after Marina passes away. Which brings us to…

The Funeral

There’s a funeral in part 2, that much is confirmed. But whose is it? One, it could be Marina Thompson, setting of Eloise’s season next. Or, many fans say, it could be Francesca’s husband, Sir John Stirling. In season 4 episode 4, we see that Michaela’s driver was sick. One fan theorises that the driver has some sort of contagious illness that he’s going to inadvertently pass onto John that ends up killing him. Alternatively, it could be the King passing away, as has been heavily alluded to in part 1. This one’s less likely to happen, though, since historically King George outlived Queen Charlotte, but Bridgerton isn’t really very faithful to history, isn’t it?

Araminta Is Lying About Sophie’s Parentage

The way Lady Penwood went about revealing Sophie’s parentage right after her father’s death sounds a little suspicious to people. While it doesn’t happen in the book, some fan theories state that the Penwood matriarch is lying about Sophie being the daughter of a maid. That lie would be exposed, giving Sophie and Benedict’s love story a greater chance of coming to fruition.
