You’d think that the India Art Fair happening in New Delhi would be the biggest (and the only) cultural event this month. But that’s the thing about February – it's truly the month of abundance, especially when it comes to cultural events!

From music festivals to arts, dance to spoken fests, it’s all happening this month at multiple cities across India. If heading to any of these falls anywhere in your interest area, there’s much to include in your plans, irrespective of where you live.

India Art Fair

Where: NSIC Exhibition Grounds, New Delhi

When: February 5-8

It’s unarguably the biggest art event in the country & every year, without fail, sees the best artists, galleries and institutions showcase their work. This year’s edition will feature over 120 of them. Obviously then, lovers of all kinds of art will throng to check it all out. By the time you read this, the fair would already be halfway through so hurry up your plans & head there pronto!

Kala Ghoda Arts Festival

Where: Kala Ghoda, Mumbai

When: Until February 8

What can be called Mumbai’s answer to Delhi’s Art Fair, this arts festival is already underway and will be on till February 8, so it’s another one you must check out right away. From art, literature, music, dance, food, design and heritage walks, this one’s got something for everyone.

John Mayer’s Concert

Where: Mahalaxmi Race Course, Mumbai

When: February 11

The iconic singer is performing in Mumbai for the first time and it’s certainly going to be an evening of not just his incredible music but a night of nostalgia as fans relive Mayer’s tracks, this time in person. Your Body is a Wonderland – how can anyone not love that song, right? Even Gravity. Or Slow Dancing in a Burning Room. February 11, come soon!

Magnetic Fields Festival

Where: Abheygarh Khetri, Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan

When: February 13-15

If you’re looking to get out of the city and surround yourself with art, Nomads by Magnetic Fields might just be your thing. 3 days of listening to future-facing electronic sounds (and talents) from across the country and world while you’re amidst the sandstone marvel of Abheygarh Khetri - ‘sounds’ better than you can imagine!

Mahindra Blues Festival

Where: Mehboob Studios, Mumbai

When: February 14-15

What’s often called Asia’s biggest celebration of the blues, the line up for this year’s music festival includes British blues virtuoso Matt Schofield, the high-energy Altered Five Blues Band, multi-Grammy nominee Shemekia Copeland, India’s Blackstratblues, young blues torchbearer D.K. Harrell and Eric Gales. Feeling the Blues, is it? This is where you should be heading!

Anoushka Shankar’s India Tour

Where: Pune, Delhi, Kolkata

When: February 6, 7 & 8

As the 14-time Grammy nominated artist celebrates 30 years on stage, she’s undertaken a 6-city tour in India that features her Chapters EP trilogy. If you’ve missed her earlier concerts (as part of this tour) in Hyderabad, Bengaluru & Mumbai, this is your chance to watch her perform live at either of the three remaining venues.

Khajuraho Dance Festival

Where: Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh

When: February 20-26

Set against the Khajuraho Group of Temples, this dance festival is now in its 51st year and as with every edition, will bring together some of the finest dancers across styles. What’s special about this edition is also the Classical Dance Marathon—an endurance-driven relay that will see 100 dancers move through multiple classical forms over more than 24 uninterrupted hours, with an aim to create a Guinness World Record no less.

Michael Learns To Rock’s India Tour

Where: Bengaluru, Mumbai, Gurugram

When: February 19, 20 & 21

The much-loved Danish band is coming to India, or rather coming back to the country, for a 3-city tour. If you too have been a fan of tracks such as Take Me To Your Heart and/or Paint My Love, this tour shall take you down memory lane.

The Sacred Amritsar

Where: Qila Gobindgarh, Amritsar

When: February 20-22

The fourth edition of The Sacred Amritsar brings together some of India’s most revered artists and cultural thinkers, including Padma Shri Kailash Kher, iconic singer Usha Uthup, and Folk musicians The Kutle Khan Project for a moving celebration of Indian poetry, music traditions and living heritage.

Spoken Fest Mumbai

Where: Jio World Garden, BKC, Mumbai

When: February 21-22

It’s the 10th edition of this much talked-about fest this year and the lineup is looking just as grand. Sheeba Chaddha, Swanand Kirkire, Waseem Barelvi and Raj Arjun are just some of the names on the list so you can expect everything from great storytelling to poignancy of words at the very least.
