From Titan to Bangalore Watch Company, 6 Indian Watches Taking on the GPHG 2026

The Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève holds its travelling exhibition in Mumbai this year, which means the Oscars of watchmaking are, for once, coming to us instead of the other way around.

Among the hundreds of entries competing across categories that range from ultra-thin engineering to artistic craftsmanship, six watches carry an Indian address. Four brands, six pieces, each staking a different claim to what Indian watchmaking can be. Here's the full list bearing details on their engineering, materials, and price, watch by watch:

₹3.5 lakh (3,000 CHF)

Competing in the Essential category, Titan's EDGE UltraSlim Mechanical is a study in restraint. The titanium case is 40 mm across and 5.7 mm thick, built around the hand-wound Calibre Edge 903: a movement just 2.20 mm deep. Traditional hands are gone; two rotating discs read out the time instead, moving in a slow, deliberate rhythm rather than sweeping across the dial. Even at just 5.7 mm thick, it manages a 42-hour power reserve and 30 metres of water resistance. It's a 50-piece limited series.

Titan's second nomination, the Wandering Meteor sits in the Challenge category reserved for watches under a set price ceiling. The dial of the watch is cut from a 120,000-year-old Muonionalusta meteorite, its cratered surface left largely as found.

The case pairs crystallised titanium with Grade 5 titanium, and inside, an in-house wandering-hour movement. It’s India's first and rotates two discs on their own axes as they orbit the dial. At ₹1.8 lakh domestically, it's positioned as an accessible entry into a complication most brands reserve for far higher price points. 

₹2.8 lakh (2,365 CHF)

The Carbon stands out for its dial, made from carbon captured from the atmosphere and compressed into a proprietary material called ReforgeCarbon. Each one develops a unique marbled pattern during production. The steel case has a smooth, pebble-like profile with concealed lugs and a super-domed sapphire crystal, powered by a Swiss Sellita automatic movement with 200 metres of water resistance. 

₹1.68 lakh (1,426 CHF)

Competing in the Challenge category, Premium Baagh is closer to a Rajasthani miniature than a conventional dial. A turquoise stone mosaic sits under a wrap of genuine pink Muslin Khadi fabric, with a ruby set into a miniature Chhatri pavilion and a sculpted gold tiger moving across an engraved desert landscape. The 40 mm steel case is hand-engraved along the flanks, with turquoise inlays worked into the lugs. It runs on a Swiss-made Sellita SW200 automatic movement and holds up to 100 metres of water resistance.

₹49,000 (417 CHF)

Jaipur's second nomination sits in Time Only, the category for watches that do nothing but tell time, without any complications, or distractions. At its centre is an actual ₹10 commemorative postage stamp depicting Maharana Pratap, the 16th-century ruler of Mewar, preserved rather than reproduced, so the texture and print of the original stamp are still visible under the sapphire crystal. The rectangular 316L steel case draws on Rajasthani architectural detailing, and the caseback is engraved with lotus motifs over a self-winding Miyota 6T28 movement. 

₹4,400 (37 CHF)

The Terra takes its cues from climbing hardware. Its 33.8 by 42.2 mm titanium case is shaped like a carabiner and paired with a hook buckle instead of a standard clasp. That shape isn't easy to machine conventionally, so Delhi Watch Company cut the case profile from sheet titanium using water-jet and wire EDM before finishing it by hand, holding tolerances of about ±20 microns in the process. It's a 5,555-piece run, created to mark the brand's fifth anniversary.
