Sneaker Resale Bubble Is Cooling Off. Here's What's Worth Buying Right Now

From Onitsuka Tiger trainers to Pharrell x Adidas slip-ons, this is the perfect time to add new ones to your collection

Not long ago, there was a time when being a sneakerhead felt like competing in a high-stakes game. Drops sold out in seconds, resale prices skyrocketed overnight and owning a hyped pair like Adidas Superstar or Nike Jordans often meant paying way above retail or taking an L and moving on. The resale margins were hitting close to a 100 percent and more than half of the coolest pairs on the grid were selling way above the retail prices.

But that energy has shifted.

The resale bubble around sneakers has cooled off. Experts say the hype cycles aren't hitting the same. Pairs that were once impossible to get are now more reasonable, accessible. To many, it sounds like end of the sneaker culture , at least in the secondary market. According to Mike Sykes II, a sports and fashion correspondent at the Business of Fashion, "You've got the tariffs that have bumped up prices on some of these shoes. You've also got Nike not being as strong as it was... And so people are just a little bit less interested in some of the limited and exclusive products, right? And so when you fuse all of those things together, that's when you get the depressed marketplace that we're seeing on the secondary market."

But zoom out from the resale chaos, and something more interesting is happening at the retail level. Sneakerheads are no longer chasing the coolest pair under pressure. Restocks have become more common and the gap that existed between retail and resale has massively narrowed down in years.

What sneakerheads like is now more important than which shoe has gone scarce. So, if the game has changed, what's actually worth buying right now?

Here's list of coolest pairs of sneakers dropping this April that are worthy of buying. From Onitsuka Tiger trainers to Pharrell x Adidas slip-on sneakers and more, there are at least 9 cool shoes launching this month that you should (like us) be looking out for the most!
