Netflix's The Four Seasons is what happens when adult friendship is given the prestige drama treatmentand a travel budget. Co-created by Tine Fey, the new series reimagines Alan Alda's 1981 classic.

The Netflix series pirouettes through a year in the lives of three couples (Fey and Will Forte, Steve Carell and Kerri Kenney-Silver, Colman Domingo and Marco Calvani) as they navigate love, loss, passive-aggressive group chats, and the slow decay of their collective youth.

Of course, Fey is unsurprisingly the beating heart and the sardonic brain of the show as Kate, a pragmatic realist. Kerri Kenney-Silver also delivers a breakout performance as Anne, the type of woman who has "boundary issues" and a killer record collection. And Steve Carell? A bit of Michael Scott, but he's been through a divorce, a wellness retreat, and now speaks exclusively in therapy jargon.

The show is sophisticated without being smug, funny without chasing punchlines, and somehow makes a discussion about open marriages feel like a scene from The Philadelphia Story. It's also a refreshingly adult. No one's trying to be cool but just trying to survive brunch.
