Why Is Everyone Talking About Sebastian Stan?
The actor stars in the recently-released Thunderbolts* but that's not the reason why he's been trending
If you’ve been on X (Twitter, as the OGs are still calling it) anytime recently, you’d have noticed a certain Mr. Sebastian Stan trending like nobody’s business.
Yes, he absolutely deserves to be. Yes, he was phenomenal in last year’s The Apprentice. Yes, he’s one of the better looking men in Hollywood. Yes, he deserves more hype than most other stars. Yes, to all the arguments you’ll probably make as fans who ‘stan’ Stan.
But don’t shoot the messenger – I'm not here to pull the man down. My job is to let everyone know who may have somehow not known why, just why Sebastian Stan has been going viral. If you already know, just read this story nevertheless?

Sebastian Stan has signed a new movie and his fans just can’t keep calm.
Directed by Justin Kurzel, the Australian filmmaker who last made the Jude Law and Nicholas Hoult-starrer The Order, is now making an adaptation of Dean Kuipers’ book, Burning Radio Farm, based on a true story. The film of the same title will star Stan alongside Leo Woodall who’s also quite a fan club-favourite after his turn as the scheming nephew in The White Lotus Season 2.
But it’s just another movie. Why is everyone losing their mind over it, you’re wondering? It’s not ‘just another movie’ - it stars Sebastian Stan and Leo Woodall as a gay couple!

As per the plot of Burning Radio Farm, Stan and Woodall star as Tom Crosslin and Rollie Rohm respectively, a couple in rural Michigan who build a peaceful, pot-friendly utopia called Rainbow Farm. When the couple’s young son is taken away by local authorities, the two end up undertaking what’s been called one of the most dramatic sieges in the history of America.
Honestly, most fans just stopped reading at ‘a couple’ and have been screaming in excitement since. Because Sebastian Stan and Leo Woodall playing a couple onscreen may not be something that was predicted for 2025 but it’s definitely one of the better things that have happened this year.

Yes, Stan is also making waves for starring in Thunderbolts* that’s also called The New Avengers? Whatever be the title of the movie, he reprises his role as Bucky Barnes in this MCU film which is currently playing in movie theatres. It’s his big theatrical release after last year’s much-acclaimed The Apprentice in which he played...umm... Donald Trump and it was a spectacular performance, might I add.
But Burning Radio Farm marks his ‘comeback’ to the LGBTQIA+ world and that’s got to account for something. I’m not saying it, so are his fans who’ve been trending #GaybastianStan on X!
He’s played a gay character twice already: in the series Political Animals (2012), Stan played the openly gay son of a former First Lady and Secretary of State and in his first-ever TV role in Kings (2009) where he played a secretly gay character.
In an ideal world, an actor playing a gay man shouldn’t be anything so out of the ordinary but since most actors still shy away from such parts – here's looking at you, Terrence Howard – it's wonderful to see a star as bright as Stan doing something that isn’t something that shouldn’t feel a big deal, something that’s just part of his job.
Here’s to Stan, always and forever!
