What makes a romantic movie great? Is it the intense chemistry between the actors ? Is it the emotionally charged obstacles that come in their way? Or, that some were doomed from the beginning?
Doom romances have always had a little bit of sympathy from the audience because they become a little too invested or rather fixated on the romance that ultimately never lasts between the characters on screen. They are inherently destined to fail, break up, or end in a tragedy. The movie-adaptations of the famous American author Nicholas Sparks banked on this romantic tragedy in the early 2000s with a few exceptions to it.
