War 2 Trailer: Hrithik Roshan Returns to Face Off NTR Jr. in an Epic Showdown
New director. New rival. Bigger universe.
The countdown is almost over. After months of intense speculation, set leaks, and casting confirmations, the trailer for War 2, the next high-octane installment in Yash Raj Films’ Spy Universe, has finally dropped it’s much anticipated trailer.
A direct sequel to the 2019 blockbuster War, the upcoming film sees Hrithik Roshan reprise his role as the enigmatic spy Kabir, now pitted against none other than NTR Jr., who joins the franchise as a formidable adversary and Kiara Advani. Directed by Ayan Mukherji, War 2 promises to expand the YRF Spy Universe in both scale and ambition in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

The fun fact is July 25 isn't a random date for War 2 trailer launch—it commemorates 25 years in cinema for both Hrithik Roshan and NTR Jr., two industry giants now on a collision course in what YRF promises will be its “most epic clash yet.”
Before you dive into Kabir’s next mission, here’s a quick briefing on where we left off!
Previously on War...
In 2019, Hrithik Roshan’s Kabir, a deadly intelligence agent turned rogue, faced off against his protégé, played by Tiger Shroff. The result? A kinetic, twist-filled chase across the globe that delivered high-stakes drama, sharp betrayals, and a finale that left Kabir walking away from the system… but not the war. The songs from the movie were instant hits, too.

Siddharth Anand’s direction gave the genre a polished edge. The action was top-tier, the chemistry was electric, and Hrithik’s entrance on a motorcycle became a meme and a moment.

What to Expect in War 2
Ayan Mukerji brings a darker, more expansive tone to the sequel. The trailer teases Kabir being pulled back into the shadows, facing a new threat: NTR Jr. in full alpha mode.
There’s not much revealed about his character, but the body language is enough to describe that he is cold, focused, and lethal which naturally means we can expect a lot more action sequences and drama, something the trailer has already given us a glimpse into.
Adding to that intrigue is Kiara Advani, whose character seems to be operating somewhere in the moral gray, War 2 trailer gives us a glimpse into what happened to Kabir after the ending of War. You'd think he would become a shadow, a nameless name after what had happened but guess what? You were wrong!
He is darker, meaner, and emotionally sharper. He’s back in RAW black ops form, delivering gun-fu choreography in dimly lit hangars, speed-boarding across neon-lit oceans, and stalking targets with that signature wolf walk we saw in the first War. But this time, something’s different. Kabir is unravelling. There’s pain in his purpose. The trailer suggests he’s no longer the cold operator he once was—but a rogue weapon, more dangerous than ever. But now has a new challenge coming his way.

Clad in dark hues, Jr NTR's swaggering entrance is underscored by a voiceover that practically declares him the hunter of Kabir. He’s not positioned as a sidekick or side antagonist—he’s the real co-lead. Every frame he occupies crackles with intensity.
Whether he’s glowering across a rain-slicked rooftop or clashing with Kabir in brutal hand-to-hand combat, NTR’s presence feels elemental. The trailer doesn’t spell out his allegiance, though we know both are fighting for India. NTR Jr. is RAW, rogue, or something far more unpredictable. But one thing’s clear: this is not just Hrithik’s movie.

And if all that isn't enough to get us excited about the action film produced by Aditya Chopra, here's a detail that will make you want to watch it on the big screens as soon as it hits the theatres near you: War 2 is the first Indian film to screen in Dolby Cinema in India.
