Shah Rukh Khan Just Made History With His National Award Win
Plus all the other National Award wins this year by Hindi movies
It's taken him 33 years but finally, Shah Rukh Khan has done it and won it!
At the 71st National Film Awards, announced moments ago, the actor has won his first ever National Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in Atlee's Jawan. He's sharing this victory with Vikrant Massey who has won this honour for his phenomenal performance in 12th Fail.
Every since his debut back in the early 1990s, there's hardly any award that SRK hasn't won. Nor is there any major achievement he's not got to his name. He even made his Met Gala debut earlier this year. 2025 might be turning out to be a year of firsts for the superstar since soon after that Sabyasachi look, it's now his first-ever National Award that's making all the waves on the internet.
Playing a dual role in Jawan definitely worked wonders for the actor. After setting box-office records, he's now making award-winning record (literally!).
But SRK isn't the only one who's won his first-ever National Award.
Rani Mukerji too has won the Best Actress in a Leading Role award - her first ever as well! - for Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway, based on a real life story of a woman's fight for the custody of her little children in the country.
12th Fail also won the National Award for Best Feature Film, by the way, which is totally deserving considering how good the film is, and all the laurels it's won at every other award since.
Karan Johar's Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani has also won not one but two National Awards. The Ranveer Singh-Alia Bhatt starrer has got director Karan Johar the National Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. Additionally, choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant won the award for Best Choreography for the song Dhindora Baje Re.
All in all, much to celebrate. From first-ever wins to much-expected wins, the whole gamut.
