Will these movies bring in the sparks at the box office?
For many, many years Diwali has been the time for some of the biggest movie releases of the year. A-list actors, producers and directors have all eyed this festive period to bring out their magnum opuses, and more often than not, it also leads to movie clashes and a potent competition to grab audiences’ attention.
2025 is no different, as a bunch of different movies across languages hit the silver screen in a bid to strike gold, while also providing you, the cinegoers, a chance to enjoy your time at the movies. Will these movies succeed to rake in the moolah? We’ll find out soon enough. For now, here’s a list of the Diwali 2025 movie releases we’re certainly eager to check out.
Thamma
It’s the big Bollywood release, the next instalment of Maddock Films’ much-loved horror-comedy universe. Featuring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandana, Paresh Rawal and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in lead roles, Thamma brings vampires to this universe (that’s already got witches, wolves and what not!), with a steady dose of laughs and scares, hopefully. Plus Nora Fatehi and Malaika Arora pop in for a song each. The stars have assembled – let’s see if they shine enough!

Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat
Harshvardhan Rane had quite a resurrection recently, after the rerelease of Sanam Teri Kasam got him tremendous fan love across the country. He’d be hoping to cash in on the same with his next release, some kind of lovelorn drama (going by the trailer) also starring Sonam Bajwa.

Bison: Kaalamaadan
The tale of a bull taming champion’s rise from a small village in Tamil Nadu, this movie starring Dhruv Vikram might just turn out to be Tamil cinema’s biggest underdog, at least that’s what some people are saying. It’s a sports drama regarding a rather unusual sport, so at least that’s a novelty factor, right?

Diesel
Action dramas continue to be a rage across movie industries in our country, and another one hits movie theatres this Diwali. Diesel features Harish Kalyan and Athulya Ravi in lead roles, and you’re in for loads of action, intensity and hopefully, some semblance of a story along the way.

Telusu Kada
If action isn’t what you’re in the mood for, here’s a love story that just might be your cup of tea. Starring Siddhu Jonnalagadda, Raashii Khanna, and Srinidhi Shetty in central roles, this rom-com will hopefully make a mark amidst all the testosterone-fuelled films releasing on a fairly routine basis.

Mahayoddha Ram in 3D
Since it’s Diwali, what better than to watch the epic tale of Ram in an animated avatar no less? Mahayoddha Ram arrives this time in 3D (the film had earlier released back in 2016 – did you know?) and has Kunal Kapoor, Mouni Roy, Jimmy Shergill and Gulshan Grover, among many others, voicing these iconic characters from Ramayana.
