Hogwarts' curriculum is getting two additional books in 2027. As the magical world of Harry Potter makes its way on Christmas in a brand new HBO series, Bloomsburry has announced Pocket Potters: Professor McGonagall and Pocket Potters: Fred and George Weasley as two new books releasing in 2027.
The two books are compact, full-colour character guides that are built around memorable scenes, quotations, facts, hidden details and Easter eggs. The pocket books are aimed at young readers though the publishing house insists seasoned fans will find something in them, too. Pocket Potters originally began with guides to Harry, Ron and Hermione, each handled by a different illustrator so every character gets a look of their own. McGonagall and the twins are the next wave.
From their release dates to what's inside each book, here's everything we know so far about Pocket Potters: Professor McGonagall and Pocket Potters: Fred and George Weasley.
The McGonagall book goes after a few questions that many fans have asked over the years such as why she buys Harry his first broomstick, what, exactly, makes someone a Hatsall and more.
Whereas, Pocket Potters: Fred and George Weasley covers the twins' uncanny command of Hogwarts' secret passages, the Canary Creams, the pranks, and the entrepreneurial mischief that eventually turned into Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes.
Both books, Pocket Potters: Professor McGonagall and Pocket Potters: Fred and George Weasley will publish on 23 February, 2027 and are available for preorders.
HBO's Harry Potter series arrives at Christmas 2026, streaming on HBO Max (JioHotstar in India) where Janet McTeer plays McGonagall and the real-life brothers Tristand and Gabriel Harland play Fred and George while the new trio that have made headlines for being casted as Harry, Hermione and Ron are Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout.
Though many fans initially assumed the series to be a remake of the films, creators Francesca Gardiner, Mark Mylod and David Heyman have insisted that the series is beign pitched as a faithful adaptation of J.K Rowling's novels, bringing the characters and details of the books to a new audience as the original films remain part of the franchise.
