Dean Di Laurentis and Allie Hayes Are Taking Over Off Campus Season 2

Prime Video's breakout hockey romance is back — and this time, it's messier and steamier

Within 12 days of Off Campus’s debut on Prime Video, the show has pulled in 36 million viewers globally — making it the platform's third-biggest series launch ever, trailing only The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and Fallout. For a young-adult college romance adapted from a niche hockey fiction series, that's not a soft landing. It’s truly saying a lot!

And Prime Video clearly took note. Now, with Season 1 wrapped and the internet firmly in its feelings, the next chapter has been officially confirmed: Season 2 will center on Dean Di Laurentis and Allie Hayes.

First, the background

Off Campus is based on the bestselling book series of the same name by Canadian author Elle Kennedy. The novels — five in total — are set at Briar University and follow the players of the school's elite ice hockey team, the Hawks, and the women who orbit their world. Each book zeroes in on a different couple within the same interconnected friend group, rotating through romances while keeping the ensemble intact.

The show works the same way. Think Bridgerton, but with hockey sticks and considerably less corsetry.

A still from Off Campus season 1

Season 1 adapted The Deal, the first book in Kennedy's series, and followed Hannah Wells (Ella Bright) and Garrett Graham (Belmont Cameli) — a songwriter and a star athlete who enter a fake-dating arrangement that, predictably, stops being fake. It's familiar territory executed well, and the chemistry between the two leads was a large part of why viewers stayed.

Series creator Louisa Levy, who co-showruns with Gina Fattore, was deliberate about not making the show a page-for-page adaptation. "We scoured the books, and we did a lot of work to try to fold in as many of those Easter eggs as possible," she told Teen Vogue. "Some of them are real moments, but maybe they don't take place in the order of the books."

So who are Dean and Allie?

Dean Di Laurentis — played by Stephen Kalyn (Gen VMotorheads) is the charming party boy of Briar U's hockey team, charismatic on the surface and considerably more layered underneath. Allie Hayes — played by Mika Abdalla (Sex AppealSnack Shack) — is an aspiring actress and Hannah's best friend, woven into the ensemble from the first episode.

Their dynamic in Season 1 was not accidental. Levy has said that from the very beginning — even when the show was just a pitch — she wanted to introduce the next season's leads mid-run so audiences would already be invested.

Allie and Dean from Off-Campus season 1

What viewers got was a slow-burn "no-strings-attached" arrangement that unraveled in spectacular fashion in the Season 1 finale, when Dean discovers that Allie has slept with Hunter — a player with a murky, unresolved history with Dean who has joined the Hawks for next season. It's a twist that doesn't exist in the books. Levy put it there on purpose: to buy the show room to breathe, and to seed a mystery around Dean's backstory that Season 2 will have to answer.

The book it's based on

In Kennedy's original series, Dean and Allie's story belongs to The Score — the third novel, not the second. The show is skipping ahead, bypassing The Mistake (which follows John Logan) to get to the couple that evidently tested best with audiences. Logan isn't being sidelined entirely — the character's story is expected to develop in the background of Season 2, with a character named Grace already cast — but he won't be the main event.

The Score is built around a secret relationship: Dean and Allie keep things hidden, at least at first, which gives Levy the structural flexibility she needs to play with timelines and audience expectations. "Their love story in the book is a secret — so why not let it be a surprise, even to book fans, when we're going to launch it?" she said to Variety.

What we know about Season 2

The announcement came on May 28, 2026, accompanied by a photo from Elle Kennedy herself — Hannah and Garrett dressed up, Dean and Allie beside them, with Kennedy writing: "Off Campus continues with Allie & Dean in Season 2." Filming is set to begin soon.

Levy has confirmed that all eight scripts for Season 2 are already written.

The confirmed Season 2 cast: Mika Abdalla and Stephen Kalyn lead as Allie and Dean. Ella Bright and Belmont Cameli return as Hannah and Garrett — still part of the ensemble, not written out. Antonio Cipriano is back as John Logan, Jalen Thomas Brooks as John Tucker, India Fowler joins the cast, and Philipa Soo returns in a recurring role.

A release date hasn't been announced, but if production moves on schedule, 2027 is the working estimate.
