All The Major Announcements From State Of Play 2026 That We Are Excited About
Kena, Metal Gear Solid and Castlevania fans have prayed for times like this
Sony’s latest State of Play was packed to the brim, and honestly, why not: publishers are scrambling to get their games out the door before Grand Theft Auto VI detonates the release calendar. So 2026 is already looking like a traffic jam of launches, and honestly, in the best kind of way possible.
The presentation bounced across almost every genre imaginable: survival horror, extraction shooters, racing titles, gothic RPGs, retro revivals, co-op stealth, and more. There’s also a noticeable surge of samurai and shinobi-inflected projects, which makes sense given that this is Sony curating the stage. New reveals sat alongside long-dormant franchises returning after decades, while several previously announced titles finally locked in concrete release dates.
That said, for a show this dense, a few major names were missing in action. The silence around Marvel’s Wolverine was hard to ignore, especially given how long fans have been waiting for a proper gameplay look. Still, taken as a whole, this State of Play delivered enough surprises to keep 2026 looking blissfully crowded.
