Who says electric vehicles are boring? At the Bharat Mobility auto show, companies showcased EVs that are both thrilling and eco-friendly

India’s automotive industry showcased its best at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo show, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the "Make in India" initiative and the need for clean, sustainable mobility. While numerous electric vehicles (EVs) and ecosystem solutions were on display at the auto show, here are our top picks for luxury EVs to look forward to this year.
BMW X1 Long Wheelbase All Electric
BMW made a surprise announcement with the launch of the long-wheelbase electric X1 at an attractive introductory price of ₹49,00,000. The iX1 LWB edrive20L M Sport will be the brand’s first locally produced electric car. With 2800mm of space between the wheels (112mm more than the standard version) and a flat floorboard, the iX1 offers the most spacious backseat in its segment. It is powered by a 66.4kWh battery, delivering a range of 531km. The slim adaptive LED lights, 18-inch alloys, and mesh-style kidney grille give it a distinctive look, while inside, it features a curved display with a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and a 10.7-inch infotainment screen. Notable features include a panoramic sunroof, a 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, 28.5-degree rear seat recline, and M Sport steering. For safety, it comes with 8 airbags, park assist, Level 2 ADAS, and a host of other standard features. BMW also provides a complimentary wall box charger and a route-planning app to manage charging needs. If you are stepping into the luxury EV world, the iX1 is an excellent starting point.
JSW-MG Cyberster
The sleek, drop-top, two-seater from MG created a buzz at Bharat Mobility. With scissor doors, arrow-shaped LED tail lamps, and a long bonnet, the Cyberster is an attention grabber. A roadster with a rich heritage, this marks MG's first electric sports car, and its interior styling complements the exterior’s sporty aesthetics. The cabin is finished in plush leather and Alcantara, with a 10.25-inch curved driver display behind an octagonal steering wheel. The centre console features an interesting stone finish, and the cockpit is designed around the driver. The top-spec 77kWh battery version offers a claimed range of 580km, with 510hp and 725Nm of torque to propel it to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds. Packed with features, the Cyberster is expected to begin deliveries in April, with official bookings and pricing to be announced in March.
Kia EV6 Facelift
The Kia EV6, already a striking model, received a facelift at the Bharat Mobility show. The updated version boasts an 84kWh battery, extending the range to 650km. With a 350kW fast charger, it can charge from 10-80% in just 18 minutes. While the overall size remains the same, the front-end styling has been revised for a sportier look, featuring the brand’s signature star-map lighting with connected DRLs and tail lamps, 19-inch glossy alloys, and a GT Line bumper. Available only in the GT Line trim in India, the EV6 facelift also introduces a new steering wheel with Kia’s updated logo and hands-on detection technology. Other technology features include AI-based navigation with graphic overlays, an improved heads-up display, a digital rear-view mirror, Level 2 ADAS with over 27 features, and 10 airbags for safety.
Mercedes-Benz G580 with EQ Technology
The legendary G-Wagon goes electric with the G580, and India will receive the exclusive Edition One, which includes AMG line features, a Night package, and special interior trims. Buyers can opt for either a regular slatted grille or a glossy black version. The electric G-Wagon stands out with its raised hood, flared rear wheel arches, air vents, and roof-edge spoiler lip. Inside, the familiar design remains, but the off-road controls have been updated, including a new "G-Turn" feature. This allows the vehicle to make up to two 360-degree turns on the spot by controlling the torque at each wheel—ideal for off-road conditions or tight manoeuvres. For added fun, the G580 offers "G-Roar" sound, channelled through the 18-speaker Burmester sound system, should you miss the noise of a traditional engine. Powered by a 116kWh battery and four individually controlled electric motors producing 587hp and 1164Nm of torque, the G580 reaches 100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds. With prices starting at ₹3 crore and production sold out until Q3 2025, this iconic EV is in high demand.
Porsche Macan EV
The Porsche Macan EV made its debut at the show, with pricing for the three variants already announced last year. The base version, featuring rear-wheel drive (RWD) and a 360hp motor, is priced at ₹1.22 crore. The Macan 4S, with dual motors producing 408hp, is priced at ₹1.39 crore, while the top-tier Macan Turbo EV, with 639hp and 1130Nm of torque, costs ₹1.69 crore. The Macan EV’s design closely resembles the Taycan while retaining the original Macan’s character. The front end is highlighted by signature slash LED DRLs and cube-shaped headlamps. The car’s longer wheelbase, paired with air suspension, offers adjustable ground clearance ranging from 185mm to 224mm—useful for navigating India’s varied roads. Inside, the Macan EV features a three-screen layout, with a combination of physical and digital buttons for ease of use. The Turbo version offers exhilarating performance with neck-snapping acceleration. While some purists feel that EVs lack driving excitement, Porsche ensures that the Macan is as thrilling as it is eco-friendly.
