And why not! The film that released in March follows the life of Ryland Grace, a science teacher who wakes up on spaceship with no recollection of how he landed there. He also has a crusty, otherworldly creature as his companion to help me stop a star-devouring parasite from ending any spec of life back on Earth. Talk about a man being able to emotionally open up to a creature than forge deep human bonds!

Turns out the creme colour fox-emblazoned sweater worn by Ryan Gosling is a 1950s handmade, customised from a mail-order pattern. And that means the creator of the knitted cardigan, Mary Maxim, isn't selling one. But has knit kits that one can use to make their own DIY wolf cardigan. So, does that mean one would have to take up knitting to be able to own one now?
According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, many crochet and knitting creators like of Jaclyn Ziegler on social media was bombarded with requests from several guys requesting to buy sweaters from her and even wanted to it customised in their sizes. She told the publication that one sweater has taken her around three weeks to stitch together.
Moreover, celebrity knitter and five time Olympian medalist Tom Daley took to his social media to share the process of knitting the same sweater. He whopped up a version of the Ryan Gosling sweater during the promotions of the highly grossing box office hit.

Truth be told, the sweater that many movie-goers have been hunting for is a specific one. The creamy drape with red foxes. However, the Canadian brand Mary Maxim that has been selling the cardigan for over 70 years now doesn't offer it in that colour schemes. The costume designers Glyn Dillon and David Crossman modified the 1950s vintage wolf pattern from the brand.
In fact, the original motif on the Cowichan-style cardigan has been swapped for a fox in red colour to fit the tone of the film. The cardigan like the reluctant scientist's other sweaters articulates a sartorial warmth that's missing for Dr. Ryland Grace who is light years away from his home on Earth.
Dillion stumbled on Grace's now famous cardigan at a London Fair doing a very last-minute shopping the morning before the first fitting session for the film with the actor. But the original piece had two wolves on the front of it. In an interview Dillon shared that originally, the piece was not meant to be part of the fitting sessions for the movie. However, because he was travelling from the fair straight for it, the cardigan travelled with him and was something that Gosling immediately loved. Interestingly, he was the one to suggest a version of it with fox faces instead of the wolves and fox footprints instead.
And here we're.
So if you are wondering where to go buy a wolf version of the cardigan or get your hands on the fox knit cardigan, now you know where to place an order!
