“Menswear today is all about ease and fitting into the rhythm of contemporary routines,” says Princess Gauravi Kumari, Co-founder and Creative Director of The PDKF Store.

PDKF’s latest campaign, shot across a nostalgic trail of familiar yet cinematic spaces like a quiet train station or an old-school petrol pump, announces their first-ever menswear collection, a debut rooted in ease, expression, and soul.

“In my view, it’s less about fleeting trends and more about relaxed silhouettes, meaningful design, and timeless pieces that fit into our daily lives. With our debut menswear line at The PDKF Store, we focused on creating classic garments—all handcrafted by our women artisans.”

The collection is simple, affordable and easygoing - a lineup of wardrobe staples that feature relaxed silhouettes, sun-washed textures and are supremely wearable.

In an exclusive interaction with Esquire India, Kumari opens up about the new collection and why it resonates with her:

The campaign imagery leans into nostalgic spaces something that resonates deeply with younger millennials and Gen Z, who often romanticise the pre-social media era. Do you personally connect with that feeling? If yes, why?

Absolutely, I connect with this deeply, especially because the campaign was designed to embrace in-person, physical moments that travel naturally brings to life. We wanted the imagery to evoke the joy of exploring new places, sharing spontaneous adventures, and soaking in the real atmosphere, with spaces like a train station or petrol pump reminding us of the fun of a journey.

In a time when so much of life is filtered through screens, leaning into these tangible, unfiltered experiences is a refreshing reminder of the magic found in face-to-face connections and authentic explorations. The campaign celebrates those lived-in moments: the laughter, discovery, and warmth that come from actually being there, not just viewing through a digital lens.

The collection is described “for the man who moves through life with ease, not urgency”. What advice would you give someone who aspires to embody that kind of energy in their own life?

I think it begins with allowing yourself to slow down and be present. We live in a world that celebrates speed and constant productivity, but ease is about finding balance, knowing when to pause, when to breathe, and when to savour the small, in-between moments.

It’s not about doing less, but doing things with intention like choosing clothes, experiences, and relationships that feel authentic to you, make space for rituals, whether it’s a quiet morning coffee, a walk without your phone, or wearing something handmade that carries a story. When you move through life with that kind of mindfulness, the ease follows naturally.

Fabric plays such an important role in how clothes feel and move with us. Could you tell us more about the fabrics you’ve chosen for this menswear debut, and how the garments have been constructed to reflect that easy, unhurried rhythm?

Fabric is always our starting point at The PDKF Store; it’s fundamental to everything we create. For us, natural, breathable materials like cottons are essential because they bring comfort, movement, and a sense of ease to daily life (and not to mention, are very Jaipur).

With this menswear debut, our goal was to distil The PDKF Store’s aesthetic, its relaxed simplicity and sense of light-heartedness, into pieces designed for men. We kept silhouettes unstructured and easy, added playful details, and let the tactile beauty of the fabric shine. Our women artisans carefully construct each garment to reflect our commitment to quality, comfort, and uncomplicated style; so every piece feels fresh, easy, and unmistakably The PDKF Store.

Many menswear campaigns lean into hyper-masculinity. Your choice here with the model and styling feels softer, more approachable. Was that a deliberate reflection of the PDKF man?

Absolutely, the campaign is a reflection of The PDKF Store’s aesthetic, one that celebrates easy, comfortable, and authentic pieces. The PDKF Store man embraces style as a natural extension of who he is, prioritising comfort and approachability while expressing his individuality with subtlety.

We wanted the campaign to feel very fun, fresh, and relatable, not overly styled or wrought. Through softer fabrics, relaxed silhouettes, and understated styling, it showcases a man who moves through life with effortless ease.

The model in the campaign seems to capture both boy-next-door charm and a kind of timeless elegance. How important was that duality to the collection’s story?

That duality was central to the story we wanted to tell. The boy-next-door charm makes the collection feels relatable and effortless, these are clothes you can live in, travel in, and feel completely yourself in. The touch of timeless elegance, on the other hand, ensures they have lasting appeal beyond a single season or trend.
