5 Co-Ord Sets You Need To Invest In Right Now
Breezy twinsets for the summer are just what the style gods ordered!
Being a nineties' kid, I remember dressing up in matchy-matchy co-ord sets all the time. Though back then, they were referred to as 'suits'. Looks like the era is back with tonal layering from head to toe becoming the new sartorial memo across occasions and settings. From Lewis Hamilton to Ranveer Singh - all the pop cultural icons have sworn by these twinsets at some point. They've been around for a while yet show no signs of fading out. Style savant Timothée Chalamet sported an all-pink co-ord look at the “A Complete Unknown” premiere in Berlin recently. At the Lakme Fashion Week x FDCI, our very own Ishaan Khatter recently soared up temperatures as he stripped off his Saakshi & Kinni co-ord set on the ramp. Moreover, in the recent Dior icon campaign, Robert Pattinson cuts a dash in a beige co-ord set. What is it about the allure of the matchy-matchy separates which makes it so desirable?
Is it purely nostalgia or the fact that men want something easy and effortless? Who's got the time to mix and match when you've got a sure-shot winner hanging in the closet which complements you from head to toe. All you need to do is to accessorise it well.

Whether it's KGL by Kanika Goyal's multi-coloured engineered printed set with concealed button placket or Dhruv Kapoor's denim co-ord sets. Designers are rethinking these - both in terms of print and textures by exploring themes of cultural evolution and emotional wellbeing. Peppered with pop art, chintz, bloom and botanical prints - the updated co-ords embody a multi-layered, multi-cultural allure. Designer Rahul Khanna of label Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna shares, "What’s exciting is how Indian designers are bringing their own narrative to it, using homegrown textiles, nuanced textures, and prints that feel bold yet intentional. It’s all about the elevated ease."

Khanna suggests investing in pieces that hold structure but still move with you. "Fabric is key—lightweight cottons, linens, or blended silks that breathe well. The silhouette should feel tailored but effortless, and prints should complement your personal style rather than overpower it. It’s all about balance," he quips.
Designers like Suket Dhir, SVA by Sonam and Paras Modi and Line Outline by Deepit Chugh have refined and redefined the co-ord set look in their own handwriting. Moreover, the separates can be mixed and matched with other looks depending on one's mood and occasion. Pop cultural sensations like Vedang Raina and Siddhant Chaturvedi have been spotted in a wide array of co-ords thus putting them on the style radar.

Designer Sonam Modi of SVA notes that with summers getting warmer every year, comfort and breathability in clothes is primary, and co ord sets provide that with a not-so-casual aesthetic. "Buy a print that suits your body type. A textile that is comfortable, soft and feels good. I like comfortable oversized co-ord sets in soft fabrics and fun prints. They should have repeat value," she says.
At Line Outline, designer Deepit Chugh has embraced this direction by combining his signature brutalist-inspired forms with clever details. The result? Co-ord sets that feel artistic yet wearable in different ways. The designer suggests investing in textiles which are breathable and sustainable. "Indian summers demand comfort—opt for linens, or cottons that let the skin breathe and age beautifully. Versatility is key. From oversized shirts with boxy shorts to cropped jackets with tapered trousers, ensure the cut flatters your body and fits multiple occasions. Look for distinctive prints or detailing. Abstract graphics, embroidery and architectural line work elevate a co-ord from simple to stand out," says Deepit.
For brunches or gallery openings, pair your set with slides, tinted sunglasses, and a bold tote. "Roll up the sleeves or half-tuck a shirt for casual flair. If you're styling them at work, then layer with a structured blazer or minimal leather accessories. Monochrome or tonal co-ords work well in creative or semi-formal settings. For evenings, add statement jewellery or layered chains, swap sneakers for loafers or boots, and play with textures—like pairing a matte coord with a glossy finish bag or shoes," suggests Deepit.
