5 Bollywood-Approved Kurtas Perfect For A Summer Wedding

Be sangeet-ready in these high-shine looks!

By Manish Mishra | LAST UPDATED: JAN 28, 2026

Sparkly kurtas and Bollywood-themed sangeets are a match made in style heaven. It is one of those few moments when Indian men move out of their comfort zone and embrace high-octane sparkles.

Worn with either churidars or pathanis or patialas - sequinned kurtas always garner instant eyeballs on the dance floor. It was Manish Malhotra who set an unspoken sangeet memo by dressing Ranbir Kapoor in a silver kurta in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013). In the foot-tapping number Dilliwaali Girlfriend, RK shows off his smooth moves wearing a silver collared kurta with white trousers. Style savant Sidharth Malhotra has often been partial to Manish's kurtas embroidered with Kashmiri Sozni needle work.

Not long ago, Taha Shah Badussha stole hearts in an olive silk tissue long kurta sparkling with crystal encrusted flying birds from Mard by Abu Sandeep. It was paired with brocade flared pants that were relaxed, yet regal. Recently, Ayushmann Khurrana infused a bold edge to the cocktail kurta by opting for a charcoal grey Shantnu Nikhil accented with brogue-inspired leather rivets and a subtle shimmer of Swarovski accents. Designer Abhinav Mishra's latest destination wedding campaign titled, 'One Love' features an array of mirror work embellished kurtas which evoke instant desirability.

Labels like Mard by Abu Sandeep, Siddartha Tytler, Tarun Tahiliani and Sawan Gandhi among others have made unapologetic shine for men totally acceptable with their high-octane aesthetic, which works wonderfully for filmi sangeets and Bollywood style dos. All one needs is a pair of nifty moccasins or brogues and a fine wristwatch to complete the look and be dance-floor ready.

The response to Manish Malhotra's shine-on kurtas has always been strong, right from the start. "I’ve never believed shine should be limited to womenswear- men carry it just as well, sometimes in a more intentional way," he quips, observing that there’s a shift happening as men are more open to experimenting with shimmer. "Interestingly, our bestsellers have always been the men's sequinned kurtas. For me, they’re the equivalent of the signature sequin saree for women which is my answer to glamour in menswear. Today, men are far more receptive to expressing that sense of celebration and individuality through sequins".

The likes of Arjun Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Karan Johar, among others, swear by Malhotra's high-octane glam kurtas. Statement-making and suave, these evening classics are likely to infuse just the right dose of panache into any sangeet or celebratory outing.

Besides sequins, mirror work embroideries have been lapped up by the new-age experimental grooms and grooms’ men who're itching to outdazzle everyone on the shaadi circuit. Sheen-inducing kurtas have also become a signature for designer Abhinav Mishra. "They strike that perfect balance of festive glamour and effortless elegance. I think what resonates most with people is how versatile they are whether you're the groom, a friend, or just someone who loves a little sparkle, it works across the board," says Mishra. His bestseller so far has been the ivory mirror-work kurta as it’s subtle in colour but rich in detail, with hand-embroidered mirrors that catch the light beautifully, especially during those golden hour sangeets.

However, the trick is to style them right and not end up looking like a shiny disco ball. According to Manish, it’s all about keeping the ensembles tastefully balanced. "A sequinned kurta, accented with hand-worked craftsmanship or glamourous detailing can be a powerful expression of personal style. Keep the base neutral and let the texture do the talking. If you’re looking for a focal point, add a statement brooch or a collar pin. It’s festive, effortless, and refined which is exactly where most men want to land with their occasion wear," suggests Malhotra.

The overall trick is to keep it light and breathable but without holding back on the drama! "For summer sangeets, a shine-on kurta already does most of the talking, so let it shine. Pair it with classic footwear like mojaris or kolhapuris, and if you’re feeling experimental, throw on an organza stole or layer it with a lightweight mirror-work jacket to add dimension," quips Mishra.
