All The Menswear Trends For This Season You Need To Know

From oversized blazers to checks and plaids, these are the winterwear trends you need to know

By Tinky Ningombam | LAST UPDATED: JAN 14, 2026

This winter, menswear and fashion runways made it clear that fashion is no longer about noise. Tailoring returned with intention and outerwear feels built for real weather and to be lived in.

The mood this season is warm and relaxed. Colours lean earthy and  silhouettes relaxed without losing structure. Winter collections across Paris and Milan showed a unified direction, prioritizing clothing that earns attention through how it's made. Many of these ideas come from recent runway seasons and have settled naturally into winter dressing. Even pieces influenced by spring summer shows are now shaping how men dress through winter, blurring traditional seasonal boundaries. Roomy knits, oversized fits and functional outerwear now layer easily into cold weather wardrobes.

Here are 15 fashion trends for men this season:

Wide-Legged Trousers

The move away from slim cuts has been steady and unmistakable, as designers return to fuller shapes with a confident, measured line. What began in casual dressing now extends into tailoring, with wide leg suit trousers appearing in wool and flannel. Prada’s spring summer presentation in Milan introduced softened tailoring and long coats that carried the same relaxed energy. Emporio Armani followed at Milan Men’s, signalling that even traditionally conservative tailoring houses have embraced the change.

Oversized Blazers

The style arguably can be traced to Korean fashion and its impact on Parisian luxury houses, particularly after BTS appeared in oversized Celine blazers. It gained further momentum when Louis Vuitton and Saint Laurent presented roomy cuts in their collections. With extended shoulders, wide lapels and a long, boxy cut, the oversized blazers are here to stay.

Modular Outerwear

Modular design met utility in pieces you could customize on the go. Reversible bombers offered two colourways in one garment. Detachable linings turned heavy coats into transitional layers. Jackets that flip inside out appeared across Paris FW25 collections. This trend addresses how men actually dress. Morning commutes demand different needs than evening plans. A jacket that adapts eliminates the need for multiple pieces. Brands prioritized technical fabrics that performed on both sides. Water-resistant exteriors flipped to reveal quilted interiors. Neutral tones on one side gave way to bold colours on the other.

Knitwear

Knitwear takes a leading role this winter, moving well beyond its usual place as a layering piece. Dense, tactile knits dominate, with ribbed turtlenecks, heavy polos and textured pullovers setting the tone. Visible stitchwork and rich yarns do the heavy lifting, with substantial knits in merino, cashmere or alpaca carrying an outfit on their own.

Faux Fur

Designers are using faux fur with confidence, letting it show up on collars, coats and panels. Sometimes it takes over an entire overcoat. Sometimes it’s just a trim on a bomber. Either way, it feels intentional. Colours stretch beyond safe neutrals into burgundy, forest green and charcoal, which makes the material feel modern rather than theatrical. The styling has also grown up. Instead of loud, full fur moments, designers are keeping things controlled. A clean overcoat with a fur collar. A jacket with fur at the cuffs or shoulders.

Patterned Mohair Sweaters

Patterned mohair sweaters are having a moment because they bring texture and depth without bulk and that shows up across real runways and designer collections. Luxury yarn houses and brands are embracing bold jacquard and geometric patterns in brushed mohair blends. These textured knits add a thoughtful and tactile dimension that reads intentional.

Leather Jackets

Leather remains essential but moves beyond the standard biker template this season. Think more relaxed cuts and streamlined shapes. Designers like Bottega Veneta show jackets that drape effortlessly over chunky knits or casual shirts. Rich browns and washed tones replace the usual black, giving the jackets versatility and a modern edge.

Varsity Jackets

Varsity jackets stay strong with wool bodies in shapes that balance structure with ease, making them just as comfortable over knits as hoodies. This classic athletic silhouette is a versatile piece for winter wardrobes. The jacket’s appeal lies in its duality: simultaneously casual yet smart.

Monochromatic Outfits

Dressing head to toe in one colour has moved from a minimalist experiment to a practical statement. Designers have leaned into tonal dressing as a way to highlight shape and movement instead of contrast.

Technical and Utility Pieces

Quilted jackets, moto inspired coats and weather ready outerwear now show up as everyday layers. Reinforced seams and oversized pockets are no longer hidden. These pieces work hard, age well and still look intentional.

Checks & Plaids

Checks and plaids remain firmly in the menswear conversation, not as novelty patterns but as dependable wardrobe anchors. Recent Fall Winter 2025 and early 2026 edits across Paris, Milan and London showed them used with restraint, often replacing solid neutrals. Zegna and Ralph Lauren continue to use checks in tailoring and outerwear.  Browns, greys and creams dominate, often woven into flannel, tweed and brushed wool.

Officecore

Officecore shows up as softened tailoring, relaxed trousers, unforced blazers and clothes that acknowledge hybrid lives.

Designers aren’t dressing men for desks. They’re dressing them for movement. A meeting, a coffee, a commute, a dinner that wasn’t planned.

Denim

Denim’s versatility is why it continues to dominate. The combination of comfort and styling flexibility ensures it remains a wardrobe cornerstone for men who want fashion to feel functional and stylish at the same time. Cargo-inspired denim is gaining ground as streetwear and practical dressing converge. Alongside this, vintage washes and retro finishes are resurfacing. Mid-wash and faded indigo denim carry a nostalgic edge, nodding to ’90s and early-2000s aesthetics.

Patchwork

Patchwork on rich materials like corduroy, suede and heavyweight wools emphasizes the season’s love of layered textures and material depth. Jackets, overshirts and even denim benefit from this treatment, making them more tactile.

Statement Accessories

Chunky knit scarves, leather gloves, wide-brim hats and oversized bags combine function with style. Jewellery has also become prominent, with signet rings, chain necklaces and understated bracelets adding personal character.
