Where Retail Gets a Refresh
The Bicester Collection has taken retail therapy and given it a chilled rosé upgrade. This summer, they’re curating a season of art, food, sport and storytelling. Here’s what’s on offer
For the traveller who’s seen one too many identical shopping streets across the world—The Bicester Collection is a surprising recalibration. Scattered across Europe like a series of well-kept secrets, its nine villages quaintly try to reimagine shopping in an age of overstimulation.
The concept began in 1995 with Bicester Village in Oxfordshire—a polished edit of luxury brands set against the pastoral English countryside—and has since grown into a cross-continental network that stretches from Paris and Madrid to Milan, Munich and beyond. Each Village is shaped by its geography: La Roca Village reflects Barcelona’s boldness; Fidenza Village flirts with Italian romance; Maasmechelen Village nods to Belgian surrealism.
A curated shopping experience, these villages are where fashion lives in landscaped walkways, amid sculpted hedgerows and galleries. Feel like a cuppa or a meal? A chic cafe or a three-Michelin-starred restaurant is never far away. The Bicester Collection’s Villages have taken the idea of retail therapy and given it a chilled rosé upgrade. You come here to shop—but you don’t just shop here.
This summer, the Villages are curating a season of art, food, sport and storytelling. Here’s a look at what’s on offer.
The Village Edit: A New Chapter in Style, Travel and Culture
Bicester Village, London
This summer, the original Village is more than just a shopping destination—it’s a publishing house, a travel concierge and a cultural compass. Celebrating its 30th anniversary, it’s launching The Villager, a print editorial project that feels more Monocle than mall zine. Think insider itineraries, local deep-dives and curated detours (like style tips for your London-to-Cotswolds trip). It’s designed to steer you to the places locals don’t just tell anyone about. Whether it’s a hidden farm-to-table spot near Chipping Norton or a minimalist boutique hotel in Marylebone, The Villager doesn’t just suggest what to buy—it sketches a whole world around it. Slow trains, hidden pubs, independent inns, countryside charms—it has it all.
Where Fashion Meets Fine Dining
La Vallée Village near Paris
Just 40 minutes outside the French capital, you could plan a detour here for the brands alone. But this season, La Vallée has brought in Christian Le Squer to command the kitchen at Menu Palais. With three Michelin stars for his exceptional cuisine at Le Cinq—located in the Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris since 2016—he’s widely regarded as a master of French gastronomy. Expect signature dishes (the Spaghetti Debout en Gratin is a must), fine ingredients and Breton influences — light, flavourful and refined. It’s fine dining, nestled between luxury boutiques.
A Summer of Sporting Excellence
La Vallée Village near Paris
But dining isn’t the only indulgence on offer at La Vallée this summer. The Village is also staging a season-long celebration of sport—from pro-am golf tournaments to clay court tennis at the Clarins Trophy, it’s a calendar packed with exclusive events centred on performance and conviviality. The 7th edition of the Pro-Am LVV Golf Cup will take place in Bussy-Guermantes in September, while a collaboration with Lagardère Paris Racing brings the Trophée de l’Élégance—a mixed doubles tournament paired with a VIP experience. This summer, La Vallée promises to be as sporty as it is elegant.
Marking a Milestone with the Beauty of Handmade
Las Rozas Village, Madrid
As it turns 25, Las Rozas Village celebrates with the launch of Mano a Mano—a year-long homage to craftsmanship and the artisans preserving traditional techniques. The series begins by spotlighting raw materials through three themed chapters across the year: ceramics, textiles and natural fibres. There’s something refreshing about a place that doesn’t just honour heritage but makes it contemporary. With each installation, the Village becomes a design pilgrimage—a rarity on high-fashion streets.
Sunset Scenes and Shopping Sprees
La Roca Village near Barcelona
La Roca Village doesn’t compete with Barcelona’s chaos—it complements it. Just outside the city, the Village feels like someone distilled the best parts of the Catalan capital—its colour, rhythm and flair—into a more relaxed frame. Art spills onto cobbled paths. Performances unfold beside gelato carts. You can browse through leading luxury boutiques and the hottest streetwear brands like Coldculture and Nude Project, then settle under the trees with a glass of cava as a jazz trio begins to play. This summer, the Village is also hosting Sunset Shopping weekends, complete with exclusive experiences, live music and gifts at select restaurants.
An Oasis of Happiness
Fidenza Village near Milan
Blending a passion for shopping with a deep love of art, this northern Italian Village transforms into an open-air museum—where murals, sculptures and installations by global artists enrich every corner of the experience. This summer, visitors can experience The Oasis of Happiness, an immersive work by artistic duo Pangea (Colombine Jubert and Laëtitia Rouget), first unveiled at Milan Design Week 2025. Featuring floating fabrics and tubular arches that explore the idea of doors within doors, the installation is presented here in a new guise—inviting guests to lose themselves in movement, light and connection, echoing the Village’s spirit of discovery and togetherness.
