What Will Wellness Look Like In 2026?

Seeing a major shift, wellness in 2026 is moving from quick solutions and ever-changing trends to purposeful journeys, longevity, nature immersion, and ancient healing

The wellness market has gone through a shakeup like never before.

As per many industry reports, 2026 is set to be a year like no other. For, as per a McKinsey & Company report, the millennial and GenZ-driven call for a personalised approach is making this $2 trillion industry expand its definitions. While some key trends for the year are mindful health retreats, sleep-focused stays, non-alcoholic options, and women-centric wellness, there is no denying that Ayurveda will call the shots. All thanks to customers becoming keener and keener about addressing the fundamental problems than following fleeting fads.

Wellness Via Wilderness

More and more are set to seek tailored wellness retreats in their travel experiences for physical and emotional wellbeing. The global Ayurveda tourism sector alone, hence, is expanding rapidly and estimated to become worth $10.4 billion by 2033, as per the HTF Market Intelligence. Siddhayu Wellness, from the house of 100-plus-year-old Ayurvedic brand, Baidyanath, recently joined hands with The Bamboo Forest’s first-of-its-kind luxury forest nature conservancy and the safari lodge to provide customised wellness amid forests. “In the lap of wild Earth, healing and alignment occurs spontaneously. All practices, or lifestyle rituals and therapies, impart multi-fold efficacy here,” says Anoopama Mukherjee Lohana, experiential wellness consultant, and COO, Siddhayu Wellness. “Our own cells, our very breath, our energy pathways, all become more sensitive, more open, and highly receptive in the forest.”

At the Gothangaon conservancy, and the lodge in Tadoba Tiger Reserve, Siddhayu’s therapies rely highly on local herbs and produce, and food is customised as per your dosha (body characteristics). “In Ayurveda, food is medicine. Which is why, we have delved into the most preserved secrets of wellness and holistic cooking, researched Ayurveda texts and the native culinary cultures to curate our hyperlocal, gourmet wellness repertoire, aligned as per your needs,” Lohana adds.

The Women’s Lane Gets Larger

The Global Wellness Summit's annual Future of Wellness report, released this January, states 2026 as a crucial year for women and that ‘major gender inequities in multibillion-dollar markets will get corrected’. The report adds, “…women’s path to health is extrapolated from men’s data and protocols designed for men. That era is ending. …every wellness market is now pivoting from treating menopause to more serious whole-life, medical-wellness longevity programs for women…”

Just last December, Dior unveiled a wellbeing journey specifically for motherhood, exclusively at its spa at Cheval Blanc Paris. The Haute Motherhood programme, a bespoke holistic journey dedicated to the postpartum period, combines expert techniques with the latest technologies. In this time of profound change, the specialists help women rediscover their bodies in the gentlest way through Reiki, Pilates Flow, and a lot of pampering, but most importantly – listening to their needs and addressing their uncertainties. The programmes, starting from €2,600, promote sensory, physical and emotional balance. The Restorative Flow is a postnatal massage created specifically to help women feel lightness and release. Then there are aesthetic-focused treatments like the New Look body sculpting ritual and the signature Micro-Abrasion Dior Spa Cheval Blanc facial.

Look Good to Feel Good

As beauty and wellness increasingly overlap, the Gen Zers are ranking ‘appearance’ among their top three wellness concerns. They are purchasing much more beauty-related products than other generations. And, the rising preference for natural and holistic solutions positions A-beauty to become the new future. Per reports, the global Ayurvedic skincare market is projected to become worth $12 billion by 2033, a 12% CAGR from 2024.

“What we’re witnessing is not simply growth in a segment, but a structural shift in how consumers define beauty. Internationally, Ayurveda has found relevance within the broader global wellness movement,” says Samrath Bedi, Executive Director of India’s OG luxury Ayurvedic skincare brand – Forest Essentials, wholly bought by Estee Lauder recently. “The collaboration…will bring modern luxurious Ayurveda to new audiences all over the world,” a statement said.

As Bedi also reiterates, this market too, like other wellness sectors, is not defined by a gender, age group, and geography. “Today, male consumer is contributing just under 10% of overall sales. Younger consumer is now our significant and growing audience, with online channels contributing approximately 30-35% of overall business in recent years and a strong demand emerging from cities beyond Delhi and Mumbai,” he says.

Mental Health and Sleep Optimisation

The overwhelmed nervous system, largely owing to non-stop digital simulation and chronic stress factors has led many to realise the importance of regulation and recovery. Hence, better sleep is millennials’ top wellness priority, and Gen Zs’ close second. For example, in the United States, 40% of Gen Z self-reported feeling “almost always stressed” versus 23% overall in a survey. “What is often overlooked is that true sleep is not something to be forced, but something to be gently invited. In today’s wellness journey, where the pursuit of longevity and emotional balance is ever more present, deep and restorative sleep becomes essential,” says Dr Arun Tomson, Senior Director of AyurMa, the health initiative at Four Seasons Resort at Landaa Giraavaru, set in Maldives’ UNESCO Biosphere Reserve – Baa Atoll. Their Panchakarma is a signature Ayurvedic 14 to 21-day therapeutic cleanse, designed to flush deep-rooted toxins, balance the doshas, and gently rewire daily habits. And, the Om Supti Night Spa Ritual, hosted at a private jungle clearing, guides body and mind into a meditative state. “The ritual works more directly with the body’s sleep pathways, calming the nervous system and harmonising the energetic centres that govern our sleep cycles,” Tomson adds.

Wellness is no longer a mere interest but a mainstream lifestyle priority, with expectations and boundaries set to be pushed more frequently than ever before.
