Mira Kapoor On Bringing A New Kind Of Wellness To Mumbai

She talks to us about her new venture, Dhun Wellness, how men and women approach wellness and what she's learnt from her husband, Shahid Kapoor

By Saurav Bhanot | LAST UPDATED: JUN 30, 2025

Every time a celebrity comes out with an entrepreneurial venture, it’s easy to look at it as nothing but another vanity project on their part. But having tried (and appreciated) her skincare brand, Akind Beauty, I knew better than to dismiss Mira Kapoor’s newest project as, well, just another project!

Dhun Wellness, Mira’s newest venture, is luxury wellness centre in Bandra, Mumbai that promises to be India’s first such in-city sanctuary. While there are many such places across the country – with most of them rather fabulous – what’s probably going to be Dhun Wellness’ USP is that people living in Mumbai don’t have to go anywhere else for some R&R.

As tantalising as that sounds, we certainly had a host of questions, and Mira sat down with us for a tête-à-tête on all things wellness and her newest venture.

What was the inspiration behind Dhun Wellness?

Dhun was born out of a very real, very urban need - to slow down, recalibrate, and feel well again, without having to check out of city life. As someone constantly juggling between roles, responsibilities, and routines, I found myself craving a space that could help me recover, not just physically, but mentally, emotionally, and energetically.

That’s where Dhun Wellness comes in. We’re pioneering a new kind of in-city wellness - one that blends science-backed recovery tools with soulful, sensory rituals. It’s where gut health is as much a priority as sleep, where inflammation is addressed alongside intuition. You’ll find everything from cryotherapy to pulse diagnosis and facial reflexology, all curated to help you reset, re-align, and return to your rhythm.

Dhun Wellness is for people who want to make wellness a way of life, not a once-in-a-while indulgence. This isn’t about escapism. It’s about building resilience, presence, and vitality right where you are. Dhun Wellness is for those who want to live longer, feel sharper, and move through life with more intention, without ever leaving the city.

How do you define wellness?

For me, wellness isn’t a detox, it’s a lifestyle recalibration. It’s about feeling clear, strong, and grounded in your body, no matter how fast the world around you moves. That belief has shaped everything we’ve built. We’re not here to sell quick fixes, we’re here to help you reset from the inside out. At Dhun Wellness, it starts with understanding the individual - your gut health, your stress response, your recovery needs. From there, we build out a protocol that blends cutting-edge tools with high-touch care. Whether it’s red light therapy, breathwork, lymphatic drainage, or medication therapy consultations with visiting experts like Dr. Divya Chandiramani Modi, every element is curated to optimise how you feel, function, and age. We’ve designed Dhun to be luxurious, but deeply intentional. Think of it as a wellness ecosystem built for the city, which is grounded in science, elevated by ritual, and focused on long-term vitality.

Talk to us about the 3 core pillars of Dhun Wellness

The pillars of Healing, Recovery, and Rejuvenation are our response to the pace and pressure of modern city living. They're not just categories, they’re entry points into what your body and mind truly need.

Recovery is our deepest commitment. It’s where science and longevity converge - cryotherapy, red light therapy, inflammation protocols, and gut-health-focused treatments come together to help you recalibrate on a cellular level. Think faster bounce-back, better digestion, sharper focus.

Healing is intuitive - less visible, more felt. It includes practices like energy alignment, sound therapy, and pulse diagnostics by visiting masters like Dr. Sudhindra Uppoor. It’s where we slow down enough to listen to the body’s internal cues.

Rejuvenation is where the inside-out glow happens. Whether it’s lymphatic drainage, skin-nourishing rituals, or facial reflexology with global expert Mariko Hiyama, we don’t separate wellness from how you look and feel.

Do you think men approach wellness differently compared to women?

Absolutely, I think there are nuances in how men and women approach wellness, often shaped by societal conditioning. Women tend to be more attuned to their bodies, perhaps because of the cyclical nature of our biology. We’re used to listening, adapting, and nurturing. Men, on the other hand, are now just beginning to explore wellness beyond fitness. What’s encouraging is that more men are opening up to holistic care-seeking, not just performance, but also emotional balance and stress relief. The shift is real and necessary.

You're known to have influenced your husband when it comes to health & wellness. Is there something wellness-related you've learnt from him that you've adapted into your routine & businesses?

Shahid is extremely disciplined and focused when it comes to his routine, and that's something I’ve picked up from him. Going to bed and waking up at the same time every day, having a consistent morning ritual, and showing up with presence and intention, these are practices I’ve adopted by watching him. His clarity and sharp focus in everything he does have definitely influenced the way I approach my work and wellness.

On the other side, I think Shahid has embraced more of the intuitive and holistic aspects of wellness through me. He’s become more attuned to what his body is telling him, more open to the Ayurvedic way of life, and more mindful about how the body evolves over time. We’ve both learned from each other, and that balance, between discipline and intuition, is something we carry into our daily lives and our choices.

Are there any wellness trends you feel will become big in the next few months/years?

I think we’re going to see a deeper shift toward personalized, preventive wellness. Gut health will continue to dominate the conversation, but with more tailored protocols rooted in functional diagnostics. I also see a resurgence of ancient vibrational therapies such as sound healing, breathwork, and energy alignment, becoming mainstream. And as people tire of short-term fixes, I believe integrative spaces which blend ancient wisdom with clinical precision, will lead the way. Longevity is the new luxury, and people are realizing it starts with how you care for yourself every single day.

Out of the signature wellness programs at Dhun, which one is your favourite?

I believe in the intention behind each of our programs, but the Women’s Health Program holds a special place in my heart. It’s designed with a deep understanding of the physical, emotional, and hormonal shifts that women experience, from adolescence through menopause. At Dhun Wellness, we honour the sacred rhythm of a woman’s life through an integrative Ayurvedic lens. This program is more than a treatment—it’s a ritual of restoration. It harmonises the doshas, supports hormonal balance, and nurtures the subtle energies that govern feminine health. Whether you’re navigating the changes of puberty, motherhood, or perimenopause, it offers a space for grounding, renewal, and deep care.

If you had to recommend one wellness program for our readers, which one would it be?

For your readers - high-performing, constantly switched-on, and navigating intense urban lives - I’d recommend our Stress Management Program. It’s more than just a way to unwind; it’s a full-spectrum reset designed to tackle stress before it starts taking a toll.
