Best Smart Scales For The Health Freak
Whether you want simple weight tracking or full-on metabolic coaching, these smart scales are a great investment
For most of us, or me at least, the bathroom scale is that slightly judgmental square of glass in the corner—useful when you’re checking in when I’m weighing a bag before the trip, but otherwise forgotten or ignored for days and weeks in the corner.
And what’s worse (or maybe better, I haven’t decided yet), is that scales have…evolved. They don’t just tell you what you weigh anymore; they narrate your entire health chart – your fat percentage, your muscle mass, your metabolic age. They will literally sync to your phone before you’ve even stepped off. Others will tell you how your arteries are holding up. Basically, the humble weigh-in has gone from a quick guilt trip to a full-blown data dive.
Of course, not all smart scales are created equal. Some keep it simple, some are way too advanced. The trick is finding the one that fits your life—whether you’re the kind who just wants your stats delivered cleanly, or the sort who geeks out over ECG readings and vascular age.
Below, I’ve rounded up a few smart scales that actually earn their spot on your bathroom floor.
Wyze Scale X
Think of the Wyze Scale X as the multi-tasker of the smart scale world. It doesn’t just weigh you — it weighs your luggage, your dog, and even your baby. On paper, it’s the most versatile of the bunch, with 13 body composition metrics tucked neatly inside the app: body fat, BMR, metabolic age, muscle mass, heart rate, the works. The scale itself is clean, slim, and portable.
However, the only catch is that you only get weight and body fat percentage on the LED display – everything else is inside the app. But it syncs with your Apple Health, Fitbit, etc. which makes you quite useful in the whole ecosystem. At undercut pricing, it’s a steal.
Renpho Smart Body Scale
Renpho has become the crowd favourite for one simple reason: it keeps things straightforward. There are no complicated graphs you’ll never look at again — just 13 metrics presented clearly, with weight, body fat, and BMI on the display. The app is clean, syncs easily with Apple Health, Fitbit, Google Health Connect, and Samsung Health, and even shows trends across weeks and months if you want the big picture.
It’s also built for households — unlimited profiles, multiple users, even infants. Looks-wise, it’s minimalist and doesn’t scream “fancy gadget,” but that’s kind of the point.
Actofit Smart Scale PRIME
Actofit is more for people who need a machine that sort of acts like a coach. This one goes all in with 15 metrics — body fat, bone density, muscle mass, you name it — and then pulls them together into a health report inside its companion app. The idea is less “here are the numbers” and more “here’s what they mean for you,” with tailored insights and even coaching nudges if you want them.
The experience is more involved than Wyze or Renpho, which can either feel like the upgrade you needed or like overkill, depending on how crazy you are about your health. Honestly, for goal-setters who like direction, Actofit is worth the space in your bathroom. But for casual users, it might feel like getting unsolicited advice from your scale every morning.
Withings Body Smart / Body Comp
Withings has been in the game longer than most, and its latest Body Comp feels like the Rolls Royce of smart scales. It’s selling point is the accuracy it offers – weight measured to within 50 grams, body fat at about 3–5%. Then it layers in the bells and whistles: ECG readings, vascular age, electrodermal activity (yes, your sweat glands are now in play), plus weather and air quality updates on a colour display.
The app has matured massively and it syncs effortlessly with Apple Health and Google Fit. The downside? It’s pricey, no way around that.
