The Boys Season 5 Is Here. Here's What We Know
After a seven-year run, the satire comes to a close
The Boys has come a long way since Robin Ward’s body was reduced to a red smear on a New York sidewalk. Back when Hughie’s biggest problem was grief and not an increasingly unhinged war against gods in capes, the show built its reputation by building a world that was actually close to how people would react if Marvel heroes existed in our world. Since then, a lot has changed: reality seems closer to the satire, and the satire has crossed into shock-value gore. Ultimately, the series has grown into the kind of massive franchise it once mocked.

However, the first reviews of Season 5 are out, and it’s showing up to be the best season ever. Of course, for a final season, the expectations are high as ever, as the Billy Butcher vs Homelander war rages to a head. As of now, here’s what we know about The Boys Season 5.

Where Things Left Off In The Boys Season 4
Season 4 follows a rapid collapse of control as Homelander tightens his grip on power while The Boys struggle to keep up. With Sister Sage guiding him, Homelander begins orchestrating a larger political takeover of the United States, turning public opinion into a weapon and pushing the country toward authoritarian control.
Ryan Kills Grace Mallory
First things first, Ryan, Homelander’s son and genetic equal, killed Grace Mallory (whether it was accidental or not doesn’t really matter). When Grace and Butcher tried to bring him into their plan, she attempted to trap him. Ryan reacted by shoving her into a wall in panic. Now he’s missing, unstable, and arguably more dangerous than Homelander because he doesn’t fully understand what he is yet.

A-Train Finally Switches Sides
After seasons of guilt and denial, A-Train fully broke from The Seven. His shift started when Blue Hawk paralyzed his brother, and it pushed him into taking accountability for him. He’s now done with Vought, aligned himself with the Boys and acts as an informant and occasional saviour. By the finale, he goes into hiding to protect his family.
The Supe-Killing Virus
By the way, Homelander is now chasing immortality, and Compound V from the spinoff show Gen V come into the picture. Created by Dr. Edison Cardosa under Godolkin University, it was weaponised into something that could wipe out every supe alive. Alongside that, Compound V1 is the variant that stops aging. Developed during World War II, it has already been used on a handful of characters, including Soldier Boy and Butcher, who by the way, is reeling from its side effects.

Billy Butcher Now Has Powers
Butcher, previously dying from a tumour caused by Temp V, injected permanent Compound V into himself. Instead of fixing him, it mutated him into a supe. Anti-Vought supe Victoria Neuman, who was about to ally with the Boys, gets torn apart by him in front of her daughter.

Homelander Controls The System
Homelander doesn’t need to become president anymore. He already controls one. With Sister Sage guiding him, he installed Speaker of the House Steven Calhoun as the president in the White House and pushed the country into martial law. Supes are now deputized across the nation, reporting directly to him. Additionally, Sister Sage engineered a cultural divide between Homelander supporters and Starlighters.
Soldier Boy Is Still Alive
Homelander’s father remains one of the few beings powerful enough to challenge him physically. By the end of season 4, we learn that Soldier Boy is alive, kept in a controlled coma in a secret facility. Which raises the obvious question. If things spiral, does he become a weapon again or something worse.
