Panchayat Season 4 Is Back And Its Arriving Early

The beloved rural satire returns with higher election stakes and sharper humour

In Phulera, democracy moves quicker than expected. What began as a cheeky promotional gimmick—an online election between Manju Devi and Kranti Devi—spiralled into a full-blown fan frenzy that quite literally rewrote Panchayat’s release calendar. Originally slated for July 2, the much-anticipated fourth season of Panchayat is now set to premiere on June 24, thanks to over 6.5 million votes from fans who rallied behind their chosen pradhan and, in the process, unlocked the season early.

It’s a clever blend of fiction and fan service. Amazon Prime Video and TVF, never ones to miss a meta-marketing moment, launched the campaign as a digital duel between two fictional village politicians. Campaign slogans, faux manifestos, rap battles, and satirical promises (“airbag-fitted cycles” and “village runways”) turned what could have been a routine trailer drop into an interactive, desi-style election tamasha. Even Sachiv Ji (played by the ever-affable Jitendra Kumar) entered the chat, proposing that if fans cast enough votes, they could sway the system and fast-track the premiere. Turns out, they could—and they did.

The Season 4 trailer, now out, offers a glimpse into the high-stakes drama unfolding in Phulera. As Manju Devi (Neena Gupta) faces off against Kranti Devi (Sunita Rajwar) in a charged-up local election, the village morphs into a carnival of colour, chaos, and campaign slogans. Rallies are rowdy, egos are inflated, and every loudspeaker blares a mix of parody promises and heartfelt pleas. But in true Panchayat fashion, underneath the slapstick is sharp social commentary—on power, patriarchy, and the small revolutions of rural India.

Season 4 also picks up where last season’s tension left off: the mysterious shooting incident looms large, a blooming romance between Abhishek and Rinki (Sanvikaa) adds emotional stakes, and Phulera’s favourite oddballs—Vikas (Chandan Roy), Prahlad (Faisal Malik), Pradhan Ji (Raghubir Yadav)—are back, caught in the crossfire of electoral gamesmanship and everyday absurdities.

For creator Chandan Kumar, the new season is less about reinvention and more about natural evolution. “Each season grows from the last,” he says. “The goal is to keep the narrative fresh but emotionally grounded.” That growth is evident in characters like Manju Devi, who, as Neena Gupta puts it, has transformed from a hesitant figurehead to a sharp-witted leader. “This season is feisty, fun, and full of surprises,” she promises.

And that’s the Panchayat charm. It’s never trying too hard to impress—it simply invites you in, sits you down with a cup of chai, and lets the quirks of village life unfold with a mix of humour and heart. Season 4 doesn’t just promise more of the same. It promises more of what Panchayat does best: finding extraordinary drama in the ordinary, and reminding us that sometimes, the smallest places have the biggest stories.

Panchayat Season 4 premieres June 24 on Prime Video, in India and over 240 countries worldwide.
