It's arguably one of the finest OTT originals from India, and certainly Netflix India's crowning glory. And it's coming back for season 3!
Featuring Shefali Shah in the lead role (giving a standout performance) as DCP Vartika Chaturvedi, Delhi Crime was an almost immediate success story for the streaming giant, and remains one of the most watches shows on the platform. It even won an International Emmy Award no less, remember?
Its second season too received both critical acclaim and audiences' love, thanks to the wonderful performances from both Shah and Tillotama Shome (who played the antagonist), along with other members of the ensemble including Rasika Dugal and Rajesh Tailang.
Netflix recently dropped the third season's teaser while announcing its release date and as expected, the excitement for it is quite palpable.
Shah is back leading from the front along with Dugal and Tailang, and joining them this time is Huma Qureshi in a negative avatar as Badi Didi, running a child trafficking racket. Also joining them this season are Sayani Gupta, Kelly Dorji and Mita Vasisht, among others.
As per the official plotline shared by Netflix, the show is about the discovery of an abandoned baby that sets off a nationwide chase, bringing Shah's characters face-to-face with that of Qureshi, and honestly, we're quite excited to see the two fine actors face off against each other.
What's always ensured that Delhi Crime remains consistently watchable is the sheer tension on screen that never dims even for a bit. That along with the exemplary screenplay and performances. Even if the proceedings are dark, twisted and sometimes, a bit too much, you just can't look away. In a lot of ways, that's the mark of a great thriller, and Delhi Crime has always got it right.
