All About Aryan Khan's The Ba***ds Of Bollywood
The show releases on Netflix on September 18
Just when everyone had come to terms with Aryan Khan's voice and how much it sounds exactly like his father's, came the trailer of his directorial debut, and as expected, it's the only thing everyone's talking about, yet again.
At a star-studded event, featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan along with Aryan and show's cast, the preview trailer for The Ba***ds of Bollywood was unveiled recently, and everything about it seems to have struck a chord with audiences.
Starring Lakshya in the lead role, the story, judging by the trailer, centres around a non-nepo baby actor trying to make it in the tricky terrains of filmdom as he encounters all kinds of crazy characters, including the father of the female actor he starts dating, and a superstar in his own right, played by Bobby Deol. Alongside the two, the show also features Sahher Bambba, Mona Singh, Manoj Pahwa, Rajat Bedi (in his big comeback, might we add) and Anya Singh, among others.
Then there are the many rumoured superstar cameos in the series, two of which have been revealed in the trailer. Ranveer Singh shows up in the show, as does Bollywood Bhai, Salman Khan. Even Karan Johar is seen hurling expletives, though no one's sure if he's playing a character or just himself in the show.
You might be tempted to label the show as a sort-of spoof (which isn't a bad thing), but we won't be too quick to do that. What the show certainly looks like, however, is an absolutely exciting mix of action, comedy, drama, and everything else that we've loved about the Hindi film industry for years.
Also, isn't it incredible to have a show that's zany and self-aware as opposed to pompous and pretentious? Not to mention the fact that it isn't a psychological or crime thriller, which in itself is such a rarity for OTT platforms these days.
However, the one thing that's got everyone talking is actually Aryan Khan.
He's got the looks (like a young SRK, if you please), the voice (again, like his famous father) and the acting chops (from whatever little people have seen so far in the film's teaser), and everyone's curious why he choose to go behind the scenes instead of making his first foray into filmdom as a filmmaker (alliteration for the win!).
If he's truly passionate about writing and filmmaking, we can't wait to see what he's put together. Though one can't help but wish his next project is as an actor instead.
