Yep, that sly standout from the Netflix series White Lotus as Saxon Ratliff is gunning for Christian Bale's blood-soaked legacy in a new American Psycho remake.

Patrick Schwarznegger has already got the internet buzzing since the success of the latest season of the White Lotus and now has given fans another reason to be excited as the director of Call Me By Your Name Luca Guadagnino is set to direct the remake.

The rumour has it Arnold's kid has his perfectly chiselled eyes on the role that made Christian Bale a legend. And he is not playing coy, In April, the young actor commented on a X post that put suggested he should play Bateman, stating "I'd love nothing more."

Sources close to the Lionsgate remake say producers are circling — curious, intrigued, maybe a little hesitant. After all, Patrick hasn’t carried a major film yet. But remember, neither had Bale when he took the plunge in 2000. Velvet Goldmine, anyone?

And with Guadagnino directing, the film will be not your average reboot. This is prestige horror with a designer label.

But for those wondering if the project in underway: Guadagnino is busy juggling other projects such as Artificial, but that might give Patrick just enough runway to land a leading man moment.

He’s already got a buzzy romantic drama Love of Your Life with Margaret Qualley on the way, and if Marvel comes calling for Cyclops, then the game's over.

But before the rumours of Schwarznegger starting swirl, Austin Butler, was in talks to play Christian Bale and man oh man, he is tough contender to beat. In recent years, Butler has served us with some really powerful performance showcasing his range in movies including ELVIS, DUNE : PART TWO, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

So until we have an official name for Bateman, our guess is that if Schwarznegger is in talks for the part, he is definitely standing at a major career crossroads and a launch as a major lead in such an iconic film is for sure going to land him in Hollywood A-listers- assuming he does a good job.

Patrick Bateman is one of those iconic roles that's psychologically layered, darkly satirical and demands precision, presence, and a pitch-perfect mix of charm and sociopathy.

Remember when Bale was told that taking up that role adapted from Bret Easton Ellis’ best-selling Wall Street slasher novel would be a career suicide?

We'll have to wait and watch where it takes the White Lotus star.
