The Trailer Of Caught Stealing Is The Year's Wildest One Yet
The jokes are landing, the music is vibing and the cast is shining in top form!
It’s not made its premiere at Cannes or won any award there. Yet, Darren Aronofsky’s Caught Stealing has been making waves on the internet, ever since its trailer dropped late last night. Is it because of a certain someone in the movie? Or is the trailer truly damn good? I’d say the latter, but you won’t be faulted for assuming it’s because of the former – there's something about Austin Butler, after all!
The man best known for Requiem Of A Dream, Aronofsky is best known for making psychological dramas. Which is why his choice of getting behind Caught Stealing makes it even more interesting.
As per the trailer, the film is about a young man (Butler) who chooses to cat-sit for a friend without realising the web of trouble he’s walking into. The movie’s description on YouTube puts it a little more crudely: ‘He was just supposed to watch the cat. Now he’s running for his f**king life’. Okay, then!
Featuring alongside Butler are a host of exciting actors. Zoe Kravitz stars as his lady love and the steamy chemistry between the two has sent their fan clubs into a collective meltdown. It makes sense, if you ask me. They’re both attractive and quite capable of bringing the heat, and when has that ever been a bad thing!
Attractive lead actors aside, the film boasts of quite an ‘attractive’ ensemble as well. There is Matt Smith – with the hairstyle of the year, IMO – as the friend whose cat Butler offers to sit. He’s obviously up to no good, as Butler finds out in due course.
Bad Bunny is the movie too. The Puerto Rican singing sensation who’s famous for his music and those Instagram thirst traps plays some kind of henchman here with enough facial fuzz to give the best of lumberjacks a massive complex.
Joining these two are Liev Schreiber, Regina King and many other cool people. Safe to say, the cast packs in enough weight to get even the most jaded and cynical audiences excited about the film.
Though to be fair to the audiences, they’ve been eagerly waiting for the film ever since the first looks of both Butler and Kravitz were released on social media a couple of months ago. And the cracker of a trailer has further upped the ante because it is genuinely that good!
The movie is looking like a fabulous black comedy meets crime drama flick, the sorts that’ve been missing for some time now.
The jokes are landing, the music is vibing and the cast is shining in top form – from everything that’s been shown in the trailer, Caught Stealing might just be the movie to out-film everything else that’s coming out this year. Too tall a claim? Maybe but you’ve got to admit the trailer piques your interest and gets your revved up!

It’s coming out on August 29 and I can’t wait to grab some popcorn and hop on for the ride. But before that, I’ll be thoroughly waiting for the film’s press tour – can you imagine the cast, with each one funnier than the other, giving us a great time with those interviews? Hollywood is back!
