It's entirely official now!
In case you were working, sleeping, traveling or doing any such thing that has kept you away from the internet since last night, much-awaited sequel to The Devil Wears Prada is finally in production. Which essentially means that it's actually happening, and there won't be any will it-won't it guessing game anymore.
The film's producers, 20th Century Studios, put out an announcement reel on Instagram, in collaboration with Anne Hathaway and Stanley Tucci ton confirm the same, and fans have obviously been dying with excitement. Not like dying-dying but more like dying with excitement. You get it, don't you?

Ever since The Devil Wears Prada's release and monumental success back in 2006, fans have been demanded a sequel of sorts to bring back Hathaway's Andrea and Miranda Priestley played by Meryl Streep, no less. With every passing year, the movie has become an even more stronger pop culture phenomenon, with fan clubs urging year after year the need for a sequel. Interestingly, Lauren Weisberger (who wrote the back The Devil Wears Prada) had written a sequel to the book, Revenge Wears Prada back in 2013, so it'll be interesting to see if the movie's sequel will be an adaptation of the book or a totally different story. David Frankel who directed The Devil Wears Prada will be directing this sequel as well.

As per updates from the film's production house, all leading stars from the movie are returning to reprise their roles. Besides, Hathaway, Streep and Tucci, Emily Blunt too will return as Emily. The only one not returning, however, would be Adrien Grenier as Nate, but then, aren't we happy about it, anyway?
Additionally, Kenneth Branagh joins the cast as Miranda Priestly's new husband.
The obvious next question is what's the plot about!
While not much, in fact, nothing really has been revealed, the internet is abuzz with the sequel's possible storyline. Apparently, one of the key plotlines will be Miranda Priestly battling the decline of the print industry and significantly, magazines losing their appeal.

The world as we know it has definitely changed quite a lot since 2006, and so has the publishing world. It's only fair that the filmmakers keep up with those changes and through a scenario that seems plausible vis-à-vis the fashion magazine world. Exactly why this plot point seems to have caught up with every one, and fan clubs are convinced it's going to make its way into the movie.
We won't obviously know till it's all out for everyone to see. Speaking of which, the movie's release date has been set to May 1, 2026. Yes, around that eagerly-awaited first Monday of May, also known as Met Gala Day, which is also one of Anna Wintour's key projects. Yes, the same Ms. Wintour on whom the character of Miranda Priestley is allegedly based on. The timing, as they say, couldn't have been better.
Time for another The Devil Wears Prada viewing, maybe? In anticipation, of course!
