If you thought the Australian cricketing legend, David Warner's love for dancing and acting chops were limited to Insta reels, you may have underestimated him. The man who once smashed bowlers out of the park, Warner is making a cinematic debut in Tollywood in the film Robinhood.

Those surprised by Warner's entry in Telugu films haven't been following him enough on the social media. Remember the deepfake that he posted on his social media superimposing as Pushpa ? This man loves a good mass masala film! So, it sounds like Warner is ready to entertain us in Venky Kudumala's Robinhood.

Starring Sreeleela and Nithiin, Warner is dipping his toes into acting with his cameo in the Telugu cinema that had its pre-release event today in Hyderabad. The former Aussie cricketer was seen matching steps with the lead actors on the stage to the beats of a song Adhi Dha Surprisu from the upcoming film and addressing everyone with a smooth 'namasakaram' and a line in Telugu.

A slick- heist action comedy, Robinhood, is about a thief in Santa Claus costume who robs the wealthy and shares with the poor and the needy. Set for a release on March 28 in theatres, Warner's cameo character in the movie remains under wrap. Nevertheless, his casting has added adrenaline and spectacle to the film and its promotions on ground and social media!

But Warner is not the first Aussie cricketer to give acting a chance. Brett Lee gave it a shot in 2015 with Undindian, an ambitious rom-com that was a total washout. The performance was endearingly stiff like a forced post-match handshake. His transition from stumps to screen was flat despite his on-screen presence. For a man who can be his comfortable self on the cricketing pitch, was half as good as clunky dancer. It was one of those moments where on field charisma just didn't translate on the big screen.

So, as Warner is gearing to show us his warming shots in theatres, everyone is curious whether he will swing it or miss it. Will his cameo garner a big reaction ? We will have to wait for the film to come out. Meanwhile, the practice moves on his Instagram, and promotional bits are like his audition tapes. They have the mass appeal, relying heavily on the fun and larger than life aspect of Indian cinema but serving pure entertainment.

With over 9.2 million views on YouTube, Warner as an actor has already piqued the interest of his fans and critics alike!
