New year, new movies!
While the first month of the year tends to be relatively lukewarm when it comes to new movie releases, January 2025 is looking like an aberration. Brimming with a whole bunch of exciting new releases across genres, the month promises to be quite a celebration at the movies. From superstar-driven films to debutante-led ones, there’s going to be something for every kind of movie lover.
Will the movies manage to impress critics and audiences alike? That’s yet to be discovered, of course. But for now, the list of movies releasing in January 2025 is definitely looking promising!
New movies releasing in January 2025:
Azaad
Ajay Devgn stars in and co-produces his nephew Aaman Devgan’s launch vehicle, Azaad. Judging by the trailer, the movies, also launching Raveena Tandon’s daughter, Rasha Thadani, is a period movie set in the times of India’s quest for freedom. The titular character is a horse, so make of that what you will.

Emergency
This Kangana Ranaut movie has been mired in controversy for the past few months, considering its controversial subject. After being denied certification (which delayed the film’s release), Emergency is finally making it to the theatres this month. Will Ranaut’s version of Indira Gandhi find an audience? Your guess is good as ours!

Deva
Shahid Kapoor turns cop in this movie, that also stars Pooja Hegde and Pavail Gulati in lead roles. Kapoor even chopped his hair into a sort-of buzz cut for the movie. While not much else is known about the film, the movie promises to be quite an action-packed ride, as acclaimed Malayalam filmmaker, Rosshan Andrrews makes his foray into Hindi cinema with Deva.

Fateh
Who knew Sonu Sood could do much more than just act? With Fateh, the actor turns both writer and director and has cast himself as an ex-special ops officer who takes on a cyber-crime syndicate, no less. Joining him in the cast are Jacqueline Fernandez, Vijay Raaz and Naseeruddin Shah.

Game Changer
It’s the next outing from Shankar, so you can expect Game Changer to certainly be massively mounted for sure, exactly like all his other films. Starring Ram Charan and Kiara Advani in lead roles, the film is about an IAS officer who takes on the corrupt politicians of the country.

Thudarum
Mohanlal’s 360th film (wow!), the eagerly awaited Thudarum, is a family-drama, also starring the likes of Shobana and Farhaan Faasil. Like with all his other films, this one too is being eagerly awaited by loyal fans of the superstar and super-actor. Fortunately, the wait isn’t going to be too long!

Sky Force
Set during the India-Pakistan 1975 war, after a bunch of delays, this Akshay Kumar-starrer is finally hitting theatres this month. While not much else is known about the movie, what we do know is that it launches Veer Pahariya and also stars Nimrat Kaur and Sara Ali Khan. Will Sky Force finally end Kumar’s dry spell at the box-office?
