The city is basically turning into a giant carnival because the IPL 2026 final is being held at the Narendra Modi Stadium on May 31. As per several media reports, one-way tickets from places like Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru are touching nearly ₹15,000 on some routes for a domestic flight. In fact, direct, one-way Delhi to Ahmedabad airfare have gone as high as between ₹13,500 – ₹14,000, from around ₹3,500 – ₹4,000, just for the match weekend. From Begaluru, the general rates were between ₹3,000 and ₹5,000, but now, they have soared to ₹14,000 – ₹15,000 range.
Trains and buses aren't faring any better; everything's jam-packed, and last-minute travellers are really feeling the heat.
Seeing the surge in demand and to accommodate additional passenger traffic, Western Railway has approved two special trains on special fares between Mumbai and Ahmedabad ahead of the IPL 2026 final weekend.
Ahmedabad has close to 200 properties across three-star and five-star categories, but right now you'd struggle to find a decent room. As per several media reports, rooms that would normally set you back by ₹8,000 to ₹10,000 a night are going for ₹25,000 to ₹30,000 in many premium places. Most luxury hotels are already showing full for May 30 and 31 dates. The hot spots to stay are anywhere near the stadium, Motera, SG Highway, Chandkheda, Gandhinagar.
