It's Official, Gorillaz Is Coming To India In January 2027
After a month of teasing, the official dates are finally here
It’s been 25 years since Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett’s virtual 4-member music band Gorillaz made their debut. Next January, they are finally coming to India.
The British virtual band is currently on The Mountain Tour to promote their latest album, Parvat. Today, the band took to Instagram to announce that they will be performing in Bengaluru and Mumbai next January. It’s a full-circle moment for Indian fans, as their ninth studio album, The Mountain/Parvat, is one of the best collaborations between Indian and Western artists in recent years. Featuring names like Asha Bhosle, Anoushka Shankar, Asha Puthli, and the Gundecha-trained sarod duo Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash, The Mountain turned from an album celebrating India into a meditation on grief and an ode to past collaborators and the musicians’ fathers (both Albarn and Hewlett lost their dads in a span of ten days while making this album).

The tour kicks off on January 23 at District Arena in Bengaluru before landing in Mumbai on January 27 at Jio World Garden, BKC. Rumours of the artists planning an India tour sprang up last month, when the official Gorillaz account commented on an announcement on the North American leg of the tour, “Next up, India. Dates coming soon…”
This was enough to send fans into a meltdown, though it now seems the concert will coincide with the next edition of Lollapalooza India 2027. Additionally, there are rumours that Tame Impala might be the headliner at Lollapalooza this year, although there’s no confirmation that it will be true (Tame Impala fans said the same thing before the 2025 Lollapalooza too, but well…).
“It has been and remains a dream of mine to bring Gorillaz in all its technicolour glory to India… I truly look forward to the experience,” Damon Albarn had previously said when asked about a concert in India. “Our dream has always been to do a tour of India,” added Hewlett.

Tickets for the concert go on pre-sale April 13, 2026, via the District by Zomato app for Mastercard holders, followed by general sales starting at 2 pm IST on April 18th 2026. There’s also a “reserve now, pay later” option for those who might be stretched thin from the long lineup of international artists performing in India this year.
