Hot List: Art Exhibitions To Go For This February
India’s art scene is on the edge this month, with several exhibitions erupting across cities
A log of wood has been carved into the outline of a human figure at Black Cube Gallery in New Delhi. Look more closely, however, and the body opens up into a hollows and cavities: a large void in the right side of the chest as the space is scooped-out, a small empty space where vocal chords rest.
The abstract sculpture that is part of the exhibition Echoes of Hand is by Gaurav Das, a Bangladeshi artist who primarily works in bronze, wood, and stone, and experiments with mixed media, including fiber resin and bronze dust. He is one of the several artists showcasing their striking works this month across India.
Galleries, festivals and exhibitions are mounting shows that range from contemporary to experimental and historical art and photography this month across cities. Taken together, they offer a snapshot of a scene that is restless, varied and increasingly confident. Here are some of the most interesting exhibitions to see now:
Drifting Through Quiet Veins

Featuring eight contemporary artists exploring sound, material, and embodied experience at the newly inaugurated Gallery Dotwalk, Drifting Through Quiet Veins is an immersive exhibition that reimagines the gallery as a sensorial environment where experiential encounters that foreground the quiet, often overlooked rhythms of daily life, labour, and landscape.
The show presents eight contemporary artists—Abdulla PA, Amjum Rizve, Chandrashekar Koteshwar, Mehak Garg, Priyaranjan Purkait, and Sudhayadas S—six artists from Dotwalk’s roster, along with Ravinder Reddy and Sujith SN, two long-associated voices who have played a crucial role in the gallery’s journey.

Where: Method, Delhi
A solo exhibition by Berlin– and New York–based artist and technologist Alida Sun, the exhibition brings together code, ritual, embroidery, mirrorwork, computational heritage, care, and solidarity, positioning technology as a site of resistance, intimacy, and collective imagination and draws attention to an often-erased history: women were the first computers and the inventors of software engineering, at a time when software was dismissed as feminised, secondary labour.
Unstill Life

Where: Method, Kala Ghoda, Mumbai
A solo show by Dheer Kaku who uses spaces to portray in his works as more than buildings; they reflect psychological states. Each piece carries many layers, drawn, erased, and redrawn, allowing impulsive emotion to settle into careful observation. It takes inspiration from the still-life tradition but focuses on the difficulty of finding true stillness when the inner world is unsettled. The exhibition also considers how open, shared spaces have disappeared from daily life. Where people once gathered outdoors, we now live in smaller, closed-off rooms. The drawings reflect this shift, showing fragile interiors that struggle to hold together.
India Art Fair

Lenscape Kerala

THE LONG NOW OF US: JAGANNATH PANDA

Echoes of the Hand a significant body of new sculptures by Gaurab Das, a Santiniketan-based artist whose practice bridges material sensibility, personal memory and contemporary form-making. His works draw upon the tactile immediacy of clay, his first medium in childhood and extend it into mature sculptural languages where gesture, void and contour articulate meaning.
