Seiko for Indian watch collectors is hardly a new arrival. Long before watch collecting became an Instagram-friendly hobby, Seiko 5s, divers and chronographers were already finding their way onto Indian wrists. Some even bought as everyday watches others old references which would require years tracking down again.
A good watch could give you a proper mechanical watch without requiring a Swiss-size bank balance. Decades into that relationship, Seiko is now giving the Indian market something it can’t simply pick up elsewhere: a limited-edition Prospex built around one of the country’s most recognisable animals—the tiger. Launched early in September 2026, the watch was released exclusively at Seiko Watch Boutiques and Seiko Watch Salons in India and is priced at ₹1,07,000.

At ₹1.07 lakh, the HBB005K1 sits just above the ₹1 lakh mark in Seiko India's current catalogue, alongside other Prospex models that push the brand further into enthusiast territory. The difference here is that the appeal isn't only in the specifications. The amber dial, the limited production run, the accompanying photography and the specifically Indian brief give this Prospex a reason to exist beyond being another variation on a familiar sports-watch formula.

The new Seiko Prospex India Limited Edition HBB005K1 takes a fairly literal starting point—the Indian tiger—but keeps the execution rooted in the language of a sports watch. Its most immediate distinction is the deep-amber dial, designed to evoke the colour and texture of a tiger’s coat. Look closer and the dial carries a textured finish that gives the otherwise warm, monochromatic surface a little more depth.
The watch is housed in a 43.8mm stainless-steel case measuring 12.8mm thick, so this is not a discreet dress watch pretending to be a sports watch. It has the physical presence expected of a Prospex, along with 20-bar water resistance, making it suitable for serious everyday wear around water. A sapphire crystal with a magnifier covers the dial, while Lumibrite helps with legibility in darker conditions.
Inside, Seiko has used its Calibre 4R35, an automatic movement that can also be manually wound. It offers approximately 41 hours of power reserve, with a stated accuracy of +45 to -35 seconds per day. The layout is deliberately uncomplicated: three hands and a date display, with the movement doing the mechanical work rather than adding unnecessary complications.
The bracelet keeps things conventional, with a stainless-steel construction and a three-fold clasp with secure lock and push-button release. More interestingly, Seiko includes a second black silicone strap, allowing the watch to move between a more substantial steel-bracelet look and something closer to the utilitarian character of a traditional sports watch.
Interestingly, there are only 1,000 pieces of the HBB005K1, making this an India Limited Edition. Each piece also comes with a photographic memory of the Indian tiger captured by Aarzoo Khurana, the wildlife photographer associated with the project. Khurana has photographed all 58 of India's tiger reserves over more than 37,000 kilometres of travel. Seiko has also connected the launch to its contribution to WWF-India's efforts to mitigate human-wildlife conflict in the Sundarbans.
