This year, Geneva Watch Days 2026 turned the city into a sprawling showroom crawl, where a steampunk-inspired Bulgari sat streets away from a revived Tudor sports watch, and a modestly priced hand-wound Frederique Constant quietly held its own against pieces costing a hundred times more. Vianney Halter may not be a household name, but he is one of independent watchmaking's most inventive designers, known for watches inspired by old machinery, submarines and steampunk. That influence is obvious here, particularly in the round, porthole-like openings borrowed from his 1998 Perpetual Antiqua, the watch that helped establish his reputation. Combined with Bulgari's famously slim Octo Finissimo, the result is thicker than usual at 9.7mm but far more distinctive. The titanium version is limited to 30 pieces, while the rose gold edition is limited to 15 pieces.

The Laureato belongs to the same generation of 1970s luxury sports watches as the Patek Philippe Nautilus and IWC Ingenieur. For this new version, Girard-Perregaux has given the familiar design a far more elaborate feature: a constantly moving mechanism visible through the dial at six o'clock. The dial comes in a finely patterned blue enamel version or solid gold, while a white gold bridge stretches over the moving mechanism. The watch is available in pink gold and blue enamel versions.

Tudor discontinued the Northflag in 2021, making its return especially notable because the original, launched in March 2015, was the first Tudor watch to use the brand's own movement. It also brings a more contemporary direction to Tudor's lineup while retaining the Northflag's distinctive character. Miles Davis was one of the most famous wearers of the Breitling Navitimer, making him a natural figure for this tribute. The 41mm watch keeps the Navitimer's slide-rule bezel, originally designed to help pilots make calculations during flight, but gives it a more vintage appearance with a reverse-panda dial and deliberately aged-looking numerals. Inside is Breitling's hand-wound B09 movement, which runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers 70 hours of power reserve. Limited to 500 pieces, the watch is available on either a leather strap or bracelet.

The Moneta collection has traditionally been associated with quartz watches, making this first hand-wound version an important change. Its coin-inspired fluted detail remains a defining feature, but it sits beneath the sapphire crystal instead of forming the outside edge of the case. Inside, the new FC-435 movement runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides 63 hours of power reserve. The movement can be viewed through the transparent caseback, while each of the 999 watches is marked ‘ONE OF 999’.

Zenith has spent decades pairing its famous El Primero movement with chronographs, so the new Chronomaster Solo Sport takes an unusual approach by using it for a simple three-hand watch. The movement still beats at the same unusually fast 36,000 vibrations per hour, a feature reflected in the repeated diagonal ‘Z’ pattern across the dial. The 40mm steel watch comes in four versions, all with ceramic bezels, and offers 200 metres of water resistance.

For collectors drawn to independent watchmaking, the Berneron Mirage Miroir is perhaps the most intriguing piece here. The asymmetrical 34mm Mirage case remains, but the movement has been re-engineered into a mirrored architecture, effectively turning the calibre into part of the visual identity of the dial. Available in yellow and white gold, it can also be paired with a seven-row solid-gold bracelet. Production is limited to just 36 pieces of each gold version annually.
