A wedding day is meant to be a fresh start, but in Sudhi Maddison's Dhoomakethu it becomes a day Kuttan cannot escape. Sajin Gopu plays the 36-year-old bachelor whose long-awaited wedding to Sharmila (Nikhila Vimal) turns violent when masked intruders kill him and abduct his bride, only for him to wake up on the same wedding morning. With a friend's help, he keeps trying to change the outcome and uncovers a sinister conspiracy tied to a rare comet. The Malayalam time-loop comedy also stars Ganapathi S. Poduval, Shine Tom Chacko and Sidharth Bharathan.

The Paradise: Netflix (October 22)

Srikanth Odela's Telugu period action drama is set in 1980s Secunderabad and follows Jadal (Nani), who fights for the identity, rights and dignity of his marginalised Savaari community against powerful figures who have long oppressed his people. The Paradise is available to stream on Netflix in Malayalam dubbing, alongside its other language versions. Mohan Babu, Raghav Juyal, Kayadu Lohar and Sonali Kulkarni are also part of the cast, with music by Anirudh Ravichander.

Karthik Subbaraj's Dorothy is a Tamil drama set in the 1980s that follows childhood friends Karthi and Subbu, who grew up as henchmen under Subbu's father. When Subbu opens up about her gender identity, the family rejects her and Karthi is ordered to end her life, but the journey the two take together slowly forces him to face his own feelings.
