7 New Movies Releasing In April 2025

From Kesari 2 to Kannappa, here's the list of new movies releasing in April that we're excited about

Saurav Bhanot

While we put together a list of new movies releasing every month, there’s enough and more chatter on the internet about the terrible times plaguing the film industry in our country.

You don’t have to be a critic, cinephile or someone working in the business of cinema to know how most movies are tanking at the box-office and the biggest of stars are failing to entertain us. Newcomers and their disastrous endeavours aside, there’s little to write home about most movies these days.

As a result, even the number of movies releasing has gone down. What has increased are the rereleases in movie theatres – iconic movies we’ve loved in the past seem to be the only way theatre owners are hoping to make some money.

It’s all gloomy and doomsday-like. We can only hope the film industry is busy course correcting. Meanwhile, we’ll continue to live in hope, because what else there is to do!

On that note, here’s the list you’re here for.

Jaat

The month of April is beginning is yet-another Sunny Deol action bonanza and we’re sincerely hoping it isn’t the ‘mindless’ variety, though Deol can be seen carrying a bazooka on his shoulder in the movie’s poster. Yet, we shall remain hopeful that there will be a coherent script somewhere there too.

Phule

Pratik Gandhi and Patralekha come together to portray the life and times of Jyotirao Govindrao Phule and Savirtribai Phule and since both actors are competent performers, we’re expecting a poignant, powerful depiction of the iconic people they’re playing on screen.

Kesari 2: The Untold Story Of Jallianwala Bagh

After the success of the first Kesari movie, Akshay Kumar is back with another one in the franchise. This one, as the title suggests, promises to show us some ‘untold’ story from the horrific Jallianwala Bagh massacre, back in our pre-Independence days. Going by the teaser, Kumar plays a lawyer who takes on the mite of the British Empire.

The movie also stars R. Madhavan and Ananya Pandey.
