Everything We Know About Drishyam 3 So Far

The teaser drops this Wednesday. Georgekutty is back, and, so is the dread.

After thirteen years of waiting, watching, and re-watching that wall-painting scene, Drishyam 3 finally has a launch date. Mohanlal confirmed on X recently that the official teaser arrives on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, with the film itself hitting theatres worldwide on May 21, 2026 – a date that also doubles as the actor’s 66th birthday.

What We Know So Far

Directed once again by Jeethu Joseph and produced by Antony Perumbavoor under Aashirvad Cinemas, the third instalment picks up the saga of Georgekutty—the cable TV operator turned amateur tactician whose particular gift for protecting his family has, by now, cost a small village its peace of mind.

The promo poster shows him holding farming tools, so I guess that’s a hint?

The Cast of Drishyam 3

The returning ensemble is a stacked reunion: Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Asha Sharath, Murali Gopy, and Siddique are all back. The film was originally slated for April 2, before being pushed to May owing to the situation in the Gulf.

Drishyam 3 Hindi Remake

Drishyam 3 is also arriving inside a much bigger franchise machine. The Hindi remake, with Ajay Devgn reprising Vijay Salgaonkar alongside Tabu, Shriya Saran, and Rajat Kapoor, is now confirmed for October 2, 2026, directed by Abhishek Pathak.

The Legacy

It’s worth remembering how strange the first Drishyam was in 2013. A Malayalam thriller where the hero is a cable TV operator who dropped out in fourth grade, the weapon is a movie ticket stub, and most of the tension comes from people sitting at a police station, talking. No chases or villain twists. There was just one man, his family, and a lie that carried his family to safety.

And it worked, and like how!

The film got remade four more times—Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi—and Georgekutty turned into something rare: a character every major film industry in the country wanted a version of. Mohanlal, Ajay Devgn, Venkatesh, Kamal Haasan, all played him.

However, this leaves Drishyam 3 with a tricky job. The franchise has gotten loud, but will the film be able to keep up?
