Are We Getting A Dhurandhar 3 Soon?

Aditi Tarafdar

Following the massive success of Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar: The Revenge, fans are abuzz about the franchise’s future. Jio Studios’ Jyoti Deshpande hinted that the makers “are not done” and promised a surprise this year, suggesting further expansion of the universe. However, actor Rakesh Bedi doubts a direct third part, even as the films’ huge global earnings make another instalment highly likely.

Ever since Dhurandhar stormed into theatres in December 2025, the Ranveer Singh-led spy thriller franchise has become one of the biggest cinematic phenomena in recent years. The excitement only intensified with the release of Dhurandhar: The Revenge in March this year, shattering all box office records. With both films doing well globally, speculation surrounding the future of the franchise has now reached an all-time high.

Fueling these discussions further, Jio Studios co-producer Jyoti Deshpande recently hinted that the makers are far from finished with the world of Dhurandhar. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Deshpande teased a possible new development connected to the franchise and said, “We're not done with Dhurandhar yet. We'll hopefully have a surprise for the audience later this year. There's something up our sleeves.”

Her statement has sparked widespread speculation among fans, many of whom believe that Dhurandhar 3 may already be in development. While Deshpande refrained from confirming whether the upcoming surprise is a direct sequel, a spin-off, or another expansion of the cinematic universe, her comments strongly suggest that the franchise still has a long road ahead.

However, the producer’s remarks come shortly after veteran actor Rakesh Bedi, who played Jameel Jamali in both films, shared a contrasting opinion regarding the future of the series. In an interview, Bedi dismissed rumours surrounding a direct third instalment and said, “I don't think a third part will happen. But Dhurandhar is a franchise, and it can be made with some other actors at any given point of time. The story ends with the spy going back to his nation.”

Now, irrespective of whether we are getting the third movie or not, the hype around the franchise practically guarantees a success of the movie were to be made. The first film reportedly grossed over Rs 1,300 crore worldwide after its theatrical release on December 5, 2025, while the second instalment surpassed expectations by collecting an impressive Rs 1,792 crore globally, making it one of the biggest blockbusters of the year.

Ranveer Singh in Dhurandhar

Directed by Aditya Dhar, the films are set against the backdrop of 2000s Pakistan and follow Ranveer Singh’s character Hamza Ali Mazari, an Indian spy tasked with infiltrating the notorious gangs of Lyari. The sequel delved deeper into the origins of Hamza, also known as Jaskirat Singh Rangi, and explored the emotional and political circumstances that pushed him toward a life of espionage. Alongside Ranveer Singh, the franchise also stars Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, and Akshaye Khanna in pivotal roles.

For now, the makers remain tight-lipped about what exactly lies ahead for the Dhurandhar universe, but Deshpande’s latest tease has certainly ensured that fans will be watching closely for the “surprise” expected later this year.
