Here's a fun fact: Indians have the lowest sleep periods in the world after the Japanese. We also have the highest naptime in the world.

This data comes from India: The State of Sleep 2026 , a special report that explores sleep trends across Indians who use the sleep tracking wearable, ŌURA. “Sleep is the foundation of health, but Indians’ ultra‑connected, fast‑paced lives are at odds with getting great sleep,” says Doug Sweeny, Chief Marketing Officer at ŌURA, ahead of their India launch. “As we bring ŌURA to India, we’re excited to see how Oura Ring can support a nation that’s deeply invested in performing at its best.”

But what is the Oura ring, exactly?

In simple words, an Oura ring is a fitness tracking ring that connects to an app on your phone to provide you accurate, real time data on your health and habits. ŌURA’s latest health companion, the Oura Ring 4, tracks more than 50 health and wellness metrics, including but not limited to sleep tracking, body clock insight, daytime stress tracking, cardiovascular age, and temperature sensing, so that you can make the most out of your health.

Why wear a ring instead of a wrist tracker? The brand claims that compared to wrist based wearables, rings provide a stronger signal as they take their data directly from arteries in the finger. This tends to make the device more accurate. Case in point: the Oura 4 can detect baseline deviations in body temperature as small as 0.13°C.

To give you an idea of how impressive that is, studies on the rings conducted by institutions like UC San Francisco, the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute and the United States Defence Threat Reduction Agency showed that changes in health metrics could detect presence of COVID-19 up to two and a half days before the first symptoms showed up.

This is the brand’s first fully titanium ring, with a non-allergenic titanium inner shell and six different outer finishes, like black, silver, gold, rose gold and so on. Weighing between 3.3 to 5.2 grams, it comes across twelve different sizes from 4 to 15, meant to fit anyone across the board. It's water resistant up to 100 metres, making it suitable for sauna and watersports, but not for deep sea diving.

The kit also includes a wireless charger and a USB-C charging cable. Fully charging the lithium-ion battery takes up to eighty minutes, and gives you up to eight days of battery life. Meanwhile, the app stores up to two weeks of data depending on type and frequency of use.
