You don’t have to be a serious gamer or even a gaming enthusiast to know just how insane the hype around any Game of Thrones-related game could possibly be. For fans of the show, particularly those who are beyond obsessed with it, it’s the only game that matters. Ever since it was first announced in the later half of 2024, Games of Thrones Kingsroad has been the talk of town – it's been more eagerly anticipated than anything else, and certainly any other game release.
Cut to the present and it’s almost time – Game of Thrones Kingsroad is leaving its early access era and officially entered the launch mode.
Game of Thrones Kingsroad Release Date
Based on the celebrated world created by the iconic George R.R. Martin books, Games of Thrones Kingsroad is exiting its early access phase and is set to be released on May 21, 2025. Essentially, in about 20 days from now, which means you, the Game of Thrones-obsessed gamer, can start playing it in this month itself.

It will be available on all major mobile platforms and also, PC via Steam, the Epic Game Store and Windows. Basically, anywhere and everywhere so there’s no avoiding it!
However, buyer be warned - some countries in Asia could experience some delays, since Netmarble wants additional time for localisation improvements. Will India be a part of those countries that'll have to cope with delays? No word on that as yet.
Netmarble has also promised updates to the game post launch, including new episdoes, an expanded map area(s) and dungeons like the Altar of Memories.
Game of Thrones Kingsroad Price
Mobile users can pre-register for the game both on the App Store and Google Play. You'll have three different versions to choose from, all priced differently - the Standard version (priced at $24.99), Deluxe version ($49.99) and Ultimate version ($89.99). All these versions will have their own bonus content too!

Features in Game of Thrones Kingsroad
As per Netmarble, the game has been designed as a single-player experience, and players will get free exploration across iconic locations from the series. You'll also be able to interact with popular characters from the show, as you find your way through cities, forests, rural areas, everything enabling you to immerse yourself in the famous seven kingdoms of Westeros.
Initial response to Game of Thrones Kingsroad
It’s interesting though how the game is going all out considering the reception to it during its beta phase can be described as mixed at best. The reviews haven’t been easy or flattering – a lot of gamers described the microtransactions built within the game as ‘unwarranted’ and ‘excessive’.
Will Netbarble go slow and easy on the in-app economy when the game officially releases? We’ll find out on May 21.
They have, however, responded to all the criticism as part of FAQ on Steam. They’ve emphasised that they’ve done ‘significant testing’ to ensure they’ve ‘minimised any feelings of imbalance and/or unfairness’ between gaming veterans and new players giving Game of Thrones Kingsroad a shot. They’ve urged players to ‘focus on the inherent fun of progressing through the later stages and reaching the endgame content, rather than comparing progress with other characters’. *eyeroll alert*

There was also some chatter about Netbarble promising to be more cognizant of players’ concerns and communicating with them in a more transparent manner going forward. To be fair, none of which promised to correct things as they stand, despite early responses regarding the game.
One can only hope that the game lives up to all the hype surrounding it. For now, gaming consoles are set in place and are all eyes are on the release date. Game of Thrones Kingsroad – here it comes!
