Yes, Slutty Little Glasses Are A Thing—Here's How To Pull Them Off

The coolest newest trend in menswear? Barely-there, wired glasses. Or as the internet likes to call them, slutty little glasses

There was a time when a black tuxedo at formal events was the extent of men’s fashion. Slowly, it evolved to include casual fits, bright colours, prints— and yes, the infamous low-hanging pants.

But accessorising? For the longest time, it was as alien to men’s fashion as well, aliens themselves. Now? Accessories feature prominently in men's fashion looks. The latest one on the block is the barely-there, wired glasses. Or as the internet named it, “slutty little glasses.”

It all started when actor Jonathan Bailey’s look from the Jurassic World Rebirth surfaced online. It screamed sophisticated sexiness. Since then, the glasses have taken over social media.

Just like the movie, the wireframe glasses are not a new look — it’s actually making a comeback. From Clark Kent and Harry Potter, to Pedro Pascal, Ryan Reynolds, and countless others, characters and actors have been rocking these little glasses for a while now.

In mainstream entertainment, glasses have usually been a plot statement for female characters. And Clark Kent/Superman. But today, they’re as much about functionality as about aesthetics. If you’re looking to add them to your wardrobe, here’s a crash course on three easy looks you can adopt.

The Casual Businessman

Dark coloured sweaters, bright mufflers, a smile, and the perfect half-framed glasses. That’s the look I remember from Jab We Met, where Aditya Kashyap (played by Shahid Kapoor) served green flag energy and effortless charm.

This is an easy look to replicate. In most frames, Kashyap dons crisp shirts with denims, usually paired with a sweater. Or, he goes for a well-fitted suit. In his case, glasses are more about functionality and form, but they still add to the overall appeal.

If you’re the kind who believes a little effort goes a long way in leaving a striking impression, then you must borrow from Pedro Pascal’s fashion book. Everyone’s favourite celebrity with wholesome vibes, Pascal usually colour-codes his outfits and glasses. This means dark black suits or brown shirts get paired with black-frames. And nude frames get paired with pastels.

The Professor

Think Oscar Isaac in Scenes from a Marriage. Or Hank Azaria in Friends. Even David Duchovny in X-Files. It’s understated chicness, where a single, stylish pair of wireframes go with every outfit - but especially with long coats. It’s how wire-framed glasses first grew in popularity, and it’s still their most common use.

This look is also best suited to those who are unafraid to let the world gaze at them. Because there’s no hiding, your vulnerabilities (or the lack of a skin care routine!) with wireframe glasses.

At the end of the day, many of us just can’t do without glasses. But that’s no reason not to give them the attention they deserve - after all, if it can make it to the Tonight Show, and the red carpet, it can certainly make it to your wardrobe.
